Most contractors won’t be available until May, so that’s plenty of time to order and receive it. If you understand enough about the amount you need to order so you are not short.

Well, you’re 6 months too late to order anything. You’re going to be limited to off the shelf dreck at box stores and seconds retailers like F&D. Why didn't your designer push you to order much sooner? Or the contractor that you have been waiting on since June?

Are you sure that you’re ready to begin the project? What design work have you had done? What due diligence did you do on contractor? What materials are actually on hand? It should be 100% of EVERYTHING at this stage, ready to start demo. That’s tile, grout, thinset, rough and finish plumbing, edging, cabinets, vent fans, mirrors, lighting. EVERYTHING should be delivered and inspected and good to go, on site, right NOW.

I've had a hard time getting samples in less than 2-3 weeks ... good luck getting a full order of tile! You are going to have to settle for some other tile that is immediately available or ask your contractor to go on to the next job and push you further down the queue.

Surely it's just the look of grooves, I wondered? Nope, @chispa is right: the tile has actual ridges according to a Q&A on Wayfair. Are you certain that's what you want for your bathroom, @SH?? Upkeep risks being a real nuisance.
