Comments (20)Sallysue, You are Adorable! You are on the first part of the kitchen reno journey and you are having a blast. Soak it all up and fall in love with all that you see. To me this is good stuff because the ideas, colors, images, materials that last in your brain as you go on this journey are the ones that you love the most. And of course you love everything you see, Kitchen fans always do. The link and picture below? It is a Quartz but I have no idea which one. I believe it is more of a solid color quartz with little movement. And I can see why you love it. I love it too. It is from a website called Custom Kitchen Quartz Surface Countertops. But this could be a borrowed image from a major company like Dupont, Cesearstone, Formica, Wilsonart.... The good new is that you can save this picture in your "Clippings" Wait, Have you started your clippings on GW? See the little green leaves on the upper right corner with a pair of scissors? Well you can click that and start to save your favorite ideas. And as you go through this kitchen journey you can start to weed out the TRUE loves from the kind of loves. Because over time you might find even more favorites. And if you happen to open another post about Faucets or molding or floors, or paint color you can save that link to your clipping so later you can go back and find it. Oh and before I forget I like the Florium Tundra even better. It will lighten up the backsplash even more. And the soft warm colors will go with the Hickoy too. All good stuff. ~boxer Here is a link that might be useful: Corian and Zodiaq colors...See Moreanyone have pics of OLD white marble counter tops?
Comments (10)lol...i totally want carerra. i would get soapstone if i could. in my last house we remodeled and i got cobra soapstone which was great. i would recommend it to anyone and everyone. our last house was in PA. now we are in florida. i am going to get a cobra sink made and shipped down here but soapstone down here would cost us too much for counters....over $100 more a sq ft than carerra. but carerra is my #2 choice and i love how it looks. but...i cook for reals and i know "patina" is my destiny. but still...i don't know if i am prepared for "the big one!" like an 8" turmeric stain or whatever. on the plus size..the cost here is about $44 a sq ft. it's beautiful. it's natural. it doesn't contain any toxic resins or formaldehyde or radon. i can live with some wabi sabi and if we sell 20 years from now and it looks like crap, i guess we will have to replace it w/new marble to get it ready for the market. who knows! i just want to see some pics ;)...See More120 Square feet Log Cabin Kitchen Remodel
Comments (2)I don't think it looks too green at all, but I know some poplar can be a little greenish. Since you have a good relationship with your cabinet maker, maybe you can make sure he avoids the greener pieces. Of course, if you'd really like something else, you just have to convince your DH that there is more to life than just poplar and he needs to branch out. :) As far as matching, can you put samples of all your materials together?...See MoreI am looking for help with white washing vs just painting a log cabin
Comments (17)You might gain inspiration from the makeover Sarah Richardson did for a contemporary ski chalet. She has a series of videos on YouTube and pics on her website. In your case, I would add contemporary not farmhouse details. Here’s the link for the kitchen reveal video. https://youtu.be/k5mEc-fhR0I I’ve seen some problems with a translucent too white paint wash on cedar and pine, the wood can go pink in a big hurry. Not good. I do like how Sarah painted out some timbers, she left the ceiling as is in the great room but painted the wood ceiling in the master bedroom. Take it slow. Leave the FP stone as is, I’d try a large painting over the fireplace, not the tv. Lightening the kitchen counters and cupboards will go a long way....See MoreBryn B
