Lighting placement in small powder room

Hi all- the light fixture in my powder room needs to be replaced, and am thinking to have ceiling fixtures. I am thinking a recessed over the sink and one center to the walkway. Or maybe a thin drum in the walkway area? The ceilings are just 7' tall. Room dimensions 50" x 45". Does that sound right? Or do I just have one? The reason I am interested in switching to ceiling is because it is small and has been hard for me to find interesting lighting that will fit in the space. .

Would love any input or suggestions. TYIA.

I think one with a good LED bulb should be enough. More important to have good light at the sink where guests might want to see themselves.

I am not keen on ceiling lights for any room except for dining and kitchen.

Yes that will work. I would mount the 18-24 inches up. Other option is to do a mirror the width of the wall and mirror mount the sconces. The third option would be to drop a pendant down over the sink area and put recessed cans over toilet area.

Is this the exact spot where the mirror will be hung? I'm only asking because looks like your current vanity is on the opposite wall and I want to make sure that the space you'll have for the sconces will be the same.

The light fixture and wallpaper are beautiful & compliment each other and I think you can combine polished nickle and chrome. The only thing I notice is that a longer mirror might be nice - one that comes down lower to your faucet. I realize that is a medicine cabinet tho. After the wallpaper goes up, you could take another look at it - or perhaps a plain tile backsplash to close that gap? Good luck!

Elaine Doremus - Thanks for taking the time to read my post and comment. I know what you mean, I too would prefer something other than recessed, especially near the sink, but finding it to be a challenge to find nice looking ones to fit above my rectangular medicine cabinet. It's tight due to 7' ceiling. I've considered putting a sconce to the right of the sink, over the commode, but it seems too much?

Hi Houzzers-

Well I am so happy to have come across a couple pendant lighting options for over the sink and wondering if anyone would care to share an opinion since I'm undecided between them. Really its pendant + wallpaper groupings rather than just pendants choices. The wallpaper will be an accent wall, behind the sink.

The color wave of this paper is on top though in real life its lighter and warmer in tone. Bottom to provide scale. I really like the sconce but have slight reservation that the pattern is not enough statement for use on an accent wall?

My reservation on this one is that it could maybe be too much "pattern" and the backround is a pretty metallic silver but will that be too much with the etched mercury glass pendant?

Would apprceiate any opinions.
