Panasonic Exhaust Fan with LED Light

I’m having my small master bathroom remodeled. I’m planning to have 4” LED recessed lights installed and I’m looking to get a fan with an LED light to give me additional light as I like it bright. I would get the Panasonic110 CFM 0.4 Sones Ceiling Mounted LED Lit Exhaust Fan with Whisper Ceiling Technology Model:FV-0511VQL1. I would like to know if the light in the fan is the same temperature or color as the LED recessed light. I had read in a review that the LED light on the fan looked yellow in comparison to the LED recessed light. Is that true? I’d appreciate any insight.

Yes, that’s exactly what color temperature measures - there can be some minor hue variations but nothing jarring. Here’s a photo to illustrate. If he were to install 5000K daylight recessed lights you would definitely see the difference, but if everything is 3000K you’ll be good.

What color temperature are your recessed lights? We have a Panasonic WhisperThin light/fan and it is 3000K.

Unfortunately, I don’t know. They haven’t been installed yet. But I’m sure they’ll be standard LEDs, whatever the usual ones electricians install. Does the LED light in your fan appear different than your LED recessed lights? Thanks!

Hi, freshman, I'm at the same decision point as you. I had spec'd out 2 LED cans and was planning on installing a separate Panasonic fan, when we discovered plumbing for the upstairs bath was going to make that impossible. So now I'm looking at one combination fan/light to pair with the other recessed light. I was hoping to go LED all the way....and am looking for feedback on this new product. What did you decide to buy? And if you bought the LED version, can you tell me what the trim size/equivalent can size is of the unit? I'm thinking it is equivalent to a 6 in can recessed light (need to purchase the other can....) Thanks!

You can probably do a search at Build.com or here at Houzz to find them. Panasonic is well thought of. My whisper warm panasonic is so quite I can barely tell when it is on. I got one with humidity sensor and proximity sensing, so it turns on when anyone is in the bathroom. Just do a search and you should be able to use the advanced search options to find just what you want. Then buy it wherever you like once you have found the model you want.

Sullivan's Countertops in Berkeley did our fabrication for our Corian tub walls and we're using them again for our walk-in shower. If you're having trouble finding an installer I suggest reaching out to Corian directly and asking them for the contact information for your local distributor and asking who does the most Corian installations in your local area. Do you have an attic above the bathroom? The Fantech is a fabulous fan/light combo but the fan unit itself sits above the ceiling in the attic (it vents outside). You can have more than one fan (I have two - one over the tub, one in the shower). Mine is a few years old and has halogen spots, but they have LED now. Because the fan is mounted in the attic, it is almost perfectly silent when it's on. It's very powerful, too. This is all you see in the room (obviously, the white round grill, not the box):

I’m not sure there’s really a “usual” to be honest. Can you check with your electrician, or better yet specify that you want 3000K?

Ha I’m sure they’ve seen it all! As a nitpicky client I always assume they’ll work in a PIA fee if it gets to be too annoying, but I’d rather that than have something bug me and then pay a second time to get it fixed. :)

Hahaha! I think of myself as very thorough:) I texted him anyway. He said he'd have to check and will get back to me. Do you think if both the light on the fan and the recessed lights have the same specifications the light will look the same? Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the photo! I'm completely clueless about lighting. Does the temperature affect how bright the room will be or just the color of the light emitted?

Kelvins measure color and lumens are the measure of brightness. With recessed LEDs it seems to be fairly standard - 4” lights give off about 700 lumens (roughly the equivalent of a 60W incandescent bulb) and 6” around 900 lumens each (similar to a 75W incandescent).

FYI, the electrician just responded and said they’re 800 lumens at 3000K.

Hi Terry, did you get the exhaust installed with both light and night light by any chance?

We are currently installing and the Day light (3000k) doesn't work for us so tried to have it wired to night light instead but even that looks pretty bring and similar hue so wondering.
