White Polished 3cm Quartz or Grey Leathered 2cm Quartzite for kitchen?

I went and looked at countertop slabs for my kithen yesterday, and found two options I liked for my kitchen.

A white polished 3cm quartz or grey leathered 2cm quartzite.

The quartz is full price and one of the only quartz slabs I saw that is large enough from my kitchen without getting two slabs (my slab needs to be 112"x70" this slab is 135"x76")

The quartzite is in the yard's clearance section and discounted because they are down to the final two slabs of this color.

The price would end up being similar on the two (within a couple hunderd dollars.)

White Quartz:

Leathered Quartzite:

I did some renderings in my kitchen and here's what came out:

I haven't yet painted my cabintes or picked a backsplash, so those could still change. I should be finalizing cabinet colors later this week but wanted to wait until I had the countertop picked before finalizing the colors.

Pros and cons of the quartz vs the quartzite.

Quartz Pros:

  • 3cm thick
  • It wouldn't need edge lamination (cheaper fabrication and no seam.)
  • Less porous (more stain resistant)
  • Doesn't require regular sealing

Quartz Cons:

  • Not heat resistant (Can be permanently damaged if a hot pot sits directly on it)
  • More of a manufactured look than natural stone
  • Not unique... looks like every other home with white quartz

Quartzite Pros:

  • Beautiful unique natural stone with veining
  • I like the natrual feel of the leathered finish
  • Heat resistant
  • Durable and hard
  • More scratch and acid resistant

Quartzite Cons:

  • More porous (if not properly sealed can stain and harbor bacteria)
  • 2cm thick
  • Would need to be mitered or laminated which adds to the fabrication costs and adds a seam.
  • Requires sealing annually

I'm split down the middle here. Any thoughts?
