Big Reveal: Mid-Century Ikea and SemiHandmade
Comments (99)KL, Your new kitchen is spectacular. Thank you so much for sharing in such detail. I am thinking I ought to do the same, as I am just at the planning stages of my project. I am wondering how your kitchen is holding up after 8 months. I am considering going with IKEA boxes and semi-handmade in my kitchen reno, but worry about the durability of the Ikea drawers, slides, and hinges. Are you still happy with them? Also I am curious about what cabinet material you chose. I am guessing that SemiHandmade in Flatsawn Walnut is a veneer, right? How is it looking 8 months on? I am trying to make my budget work and am tempted to save on cabinets because it's just such a big ticket item. Are you still happy with your choice? Also, how do you like the FP fridge?...See MoreGrowth progress of my hostas! Took a bunch of pics for y'all.
Comments (14)Josephine: Thanks for the nice words (everyone else, too). I dug some earth and mulch away from the High Society in case it was too deep. Don't see much improvement. I put the new border edging up because the "landscape workers" had repeatedly rammed their mowers into the former polyresin faux rock border and taken chunks out of it, which I repaired year after year. Got tired of it and invested in the Landecor cast concrete faux rocks, which I then raised to the necessary height to retain the mulch by putting a layer of complementing bricks under the rocks. It's not the trimming of the grass near the garden that damaged a half-dozen of my valuable plants, it was the indiscriminate and careless spraying of WEEDKILLER, fer cryin' out loud, right next to a garden. Takes a special kind of cretin to do that, and that third-rate landscape company has them in no short supply. Haha, can't wait to see what happens when mower meets CONCRETE. I also ordered a new female half of the stolen female half of the quick connect for my hose. They forgot to steal the male half. Like I said, you suburban folks have your voles and deer, and I have 2 legged critters working on the destruction of my plants....See MoreShow me pics of your bathroom sink reveal
Comments (4)!!! I swear we have Caxton too. So. It's a double sink vanity top, they came and templated and took one sink with them to make sure cutouts were right, come back, install everything and both sinks, and I notice one of the cutouts is crazy, completely uneven overhang (guess that's negative reveal). Took awhile to figure Out, but the sinks, both labeled in box, and on the sink itself, with same product name etc, -- the two Caxton sinks were not the same. Went back to bath supply store and they pull all the boxes of Caxton they had. Sadly, the countertop cutouts were gauged to "sink 1 Caxton" and the sink the supplier had more of was" sink 2 Caxton" which needed smaller cutout. Never did get an explanation for difference in sinks, we had to re-do the counter with new material, it was crazy. So I am very suspicious of Caxton. Long story to say good luck with your cutout....See MoreThe Big Reveal and Reflection
