Gopi, I must ask: if not, why not? The suggestion I gave in answering your query about cutting ack or not, I suggested at that time to examine the roots and clean them up if they showed any sign of damage. That says if you see any blackness, or detect any smell from the roots, they should be cleaned of any and all soil. That soil is dead...there's no need to carry that forward. There's no need to wash the roots, just use your fingers to knock off the soil. The new plantings will have fresh, new potting soil where no fertilizer is needed. The new plantings should have a clean pot with drainage holes to which after watering, the pot drains well. Roots of the old, tired out plants are not so tender you cant inspect them, handle them and clean them up. By all means, tease them out....let each piece of root enjoy the new soil they're going into.

I planted mine in 2020 on the recommendation of lilyfinch who lived nearby at the time. i dont have bathsheba but am very interested in trying it. im in a bind because i have no more room. i already need to thin the herd because my largest beds dont have enough sun and the only places with enough sun are already jam packed. what is the growth habit of bathsheba? im looking to remove 2 cl royal america and 2 dee-lish to free up space for something to mingle with chianti and evelyn

Mama Africa is fabulous! I love her form as much as her color. Thank you for sharing. Wow they sent you a letter. I am curious, how many roses are in your fabulous collection? I have 37 roses all on drip, but I hand water deeply a couple times a month for all except the 3 English roses (Golden Celebration on Dr Huey, Darcey Bussell on DH and James Galway own roots) under a Sycamore that get extra water a couple times a week. Dr Huey rootstock does very well competing with Sycamore roots. everything else in my yard is drought tolerant, mostly native Californian or Australian plants plus herbs. Our water bill is high, but probably not more than neighbors, since most everyone here has a lawn. Gardening is my hobby and most hobbies cost money so it doesn’t worry me.

Thank you, Helen. I'm helping a friend with his (rose) garden and need a low thorn climber for his "he-shed". Good health is also a requirement because I doubt he wants to spray all over something he just built. I've been eyeing James since seeing the gorgeous pictures of him growing in Bavaria. So long as he gives three flushes, I think that would suffice. It's just and extra sort of rose. Thank you for taking the time to post pictures of the canes. We also have Teasing Georgia on order and a few others you grow!! : ))

Jeals of the dogs. They make great family dogs and companions. We wanted to get one but got a poodle coton mix instead because we found her first.

OMG> I love Jimmy Buffet and now I love him more because of his dogs.

I adore cavaliers. I was going to get one for my next dog (Plan was to be a 1 beagle; 1 cav household instead of a 2 beagle household next time) but after going through what I did w/ Molly's heart condition and finding out how endemic mitral valve disease is in the cavalier breed, I will be sticking with beagles only as I can't take such a high risk of having that issue again).

I adore that kitchen too, from what I can see of it. Although for some reason I'd have kind of pictured him in a more tropical / colorful house!
