I have to disagree with warranties for appliances these days. I have broke even several times but lately, especially with washer and dryers, I came out WAAAAAAY ahead. In fact, we just got bought out of our contract on our washer and got a check in the mail for the full purchase price plus tax and I bought a new washer. The washer was only four years old. I did not have a warranty of any of my appliances I bought 15 years ago. Back then, it would have been a waste. I've had one call on the fridge, two on the dishwasher, three on the oven and one on the cooktop. That would have been a break even I think. But, at this point with the cheap parts and sending stuff overseas, I most likely will buy a warranty on every item because one service call alone will pay for the cost of the warranty. Now, the key is to price warranties. The same warranty at store A is not the same price as store B. Sears is WAAAY overpriced with warranties so I don't buy there. Our local store is very reasonable for the exact same coverage. If you want a warranty, shop both the appliance and warranty cost.

My understanding when I was looking for heavy-duty appliance pulls (for fridge and freezer, NOT for dishwasher / fridge drawers) is that you really need a pull indicated for appliances because they'll have the strength to not just pull right out of the panel. I was also looking at an RH 12" pull and, this is purely anecdotal, my cabinetmaker said "No." He's the one who first told me that regular pulls aren't strong enough to (repeatedly) pull open a heavy fridge door. Someone else, I think it was at an appliance store, anyway, they told me to make sure to have heavy-duty pulls and long, strong screws to withstand the weight (of the panels and loaded door). Luckily I found an appliance pull I loved (but it took soooo long!). And I have to say, now that I've been pulling open our (heavy) fridge and freezer doors I can understand why the RH pull I liked would have been a total dud (for my panels and appliances).

My suggestion is to find a showroom to see them locally. Appliance pulls are usually over $100, and often nonreturnable (they sometimes consider them a custom item). That said, I have Emtek doorknobs throughout my house and can't say enough nice things about them.

myknobs.com sells long appliance pulls but as they get longer there seem to be fewer finish options. If you want a really long one, you'll probably have to get a stainless steel one. Suggestion: look at photos of refrigerators which do NOT have custom panels on, say, appliances.com. Look at the styles of the pulls and estimate their lengths based on the height of the appliance. Use those as a guide for choosing your own pulls. Also richelieu.com. Another possibility: find an appliance whose handles you like and see if you can buy the handles as spare parts. Also ebay.
