Nicely done, but the stairs in those trinities would kill me. That said, it's a beautiful street to live on.

That dining room table is a work of art!

Stairs like this were a disqualification when we were looking for houses. Particularly because many of these houses do not have a bathroom on the same level as the primary bedroom. They are always an inconvenience but under some circumstances are dangerous. But the houses are so small they can't really be changed, a conventional staircase would take most of the footprint.

Yes - and aren't the kitchens often on the basement level?

DS lived in a 740 sq ft Trinity for 2 years and often fantasized about combining it with the adjacent unit. It was 4 floors - the kitchen was in the basement, living area on the entry level, the second floor had been converted into to a bath, laundry room and office space and the bedroom was on the top. Even 10 years ago the rent was $1000.

He ended up buying another condo in the same courtyard. A developer had bought an entire row of Trinities which were originally built for factory workers in Northern Liberties. He gutted them, combined adjacent units and then divided them into 2 condos of 2 floors each. One condo was the basement and first floor. My son bought the one above that - which was the second and third floor. The developer even managed to put in straight run staircases with only one landing.

While still only 890 sq ft, this space was much more livable- 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, windows front and back, a gas fireplace and a view of the skyline. DD has a similar 2 floor condo in the same complex but it's smaller, one BR, one Bath.

When he sold it 2 months ago he made a nice profit. He's going to miss living in the city.

The stairs look so cool, but they seem like a fall hazard to me.

It’s interesting to me to see houses like this as we have nothing like it for comparison. I enjoy open spaces around me too much to want to live that way, but for a young person it would be nice. The stairs would also be a deal breaker but the finishes and furnishings are well done.

Clever idea to join two houses back to back. That block is gorgeous. All the clutter needs to go. I realize (hope) it doesn’t come with the house. There is so much to love about this house although I strongly dislike the tile around the fireplace. I appreciate that the stairs are original but I couldn’t manage them on an everyday basis.
