Design Dilemma Kitchens

Need guidance on kitchen cabinet color

I need your guidance on kitchen cabinet color. i will not be changing the backsplash or countertops. the windows face east so I get good light in the morning. the wall color will be Balboa Mist. what do you all think of BM Seapearl as cabinet color? see sample wood panel attached with BM sea pearl.

Or other color suggestions that you have. i have attached my inspiration picture. i plan to have champagne bronze cabinet pulls. Trying to get some warmth and luxurious feeling. I would like to stay away from green undertones or too yellow undertones.

Buy a single drawer pull in Champagne Bronze. From your photos, it appears that the look of the cabinets would not enhance this bronze. I have used Champagne Bronze in kitchen and bath. IMO more contrast is needed.

look good in this kitchen along with champagne bronze? see sample of BM sea peal wood color

lol sue_ct: red is about the only color I don't have. although I do have one red leather chair bought just to add some interest to the great room. I don't know where to get these cabinets. they are thermofoil and are holding up great but I've never seen the exact ones again. We have rope lights above the upper cabinets and below the upper cabinets. My husband wants to add molding to both upper and lower so that will jazz it up a bit. We do have seeded glass that we just put into the pantry cabs that you see in the pictures. We're all about doing the less expensive stuff, we just haven't done the changes that cost more. I would like to get backless stools for the bar. I haven't yet because I don't know if we'll end up with a counter height bar like we have or a taller one to hide the kitchen counter. I guess I'm at a point where I'm going to have to commit to a design plan. I don't like that the microwave hangs below the cabinets. Can't duct to the outside. that's another thing I wish I had known about 10 years ago and before I knew of this forum. I'm thinking if I had an island I could put the microwave in that. I'm not sure if that means you buy a counter microwave? My dh will build out the cabs around the fridge. I'm wondering whether the fridg should be ss or remain white so as to not stand out. All white appliances except for a pro-look range? or all ss appliances. I need a plan:)

You can do it, but not in place. It's some fancy cutting. I mean, it could be done, but it would either take too long, or the results would bite. You will regret not taking it down and doing the work where you can get to all sides. There's nothing to be gained by attempting it in situ. Casey

I just had Kitchen Cabinet Kings's cabinets installed. My thoughts: Pros- 1. they gave me a design that I like. 2. They arrived quick! Probably within 10 days (how far out is your custom guy? Maybe with your condo that's not as concerning) 3. All plywood, soft closes 4. Cost (big one for us, especially this isn't a forever house) Cons- 1. My installer is a retired cabinet builder and while he didn't say they were awful, he didn't say "wow! these are awesome!!" either. He did say quite often "these aren't square" and once "anywhere they could cut corners they did" 2. The crown molding was about 1.5 of an inch from the ceiling. Their design didn't have way to deal with that. That seemed like an obvious thing to me, make the crown molding go clear to the ceiling....Good thing I had a good installer. I contacted KCK and they weren't so friendly, but did send me some moldings to make a stacked molding so I was to the ceiling. 3. The base cabinet shelves they send are like 1/3 of a shelf. I can't tell if I hate this, or it will be handy for tall appliances. Overall, I think our cabinet guy made them look good. They were pretty good to work with too. Have you selected your builder yet? That may impact the way you go about designing your kitchen. My builder works with a custom cabinet maker, who we also worked with on the kitchen layout. Also, second the advice on figuring out what you like about that picture. Like others have said that is an expensive kitchen (as most are that are featured on Houzz). However, if you are simply drawn to the look of a white cabinet, black counters on the perimeter and marble on the island, then that could be do-able in a wide range of budgets. My kitchen is 15' x 19' and open to the family room. I'm hesitant to post pics since it is very much in progress, but this can at least give you an idea of a kitchen with similar size, finishes (in terms of white, black and marble), with custom cabinets and counter tops that were less than half the $$ LWO shared. We will be removing the 4" AB splash and adding subway tile. One thing you may notice (and that may be causing the GW regulars to cringe) is there are not a lot of drawers. We added roll out shelves wherever there are not drawers, but that is one area we definitely could have spent more money and adds to the function (and cabinetry cost) of a kitchen.

from my monitor, it looks like you have a warm toned b/s and cool toned cab color... i don't think that combo works

I'd save all the money from painting your cabinets and put it into a new light colored countertops and a new back splash instead. The wood adds some warmth, and works well with your floors. Painting your cabinets any color of white won't make the countertop and back splash coordinate any better.

The inspiration photo has all cool white tints, including the floor. Your kitchen has all warm colors. Without changing everything, including adding second tier top cabinets and raising the ceiling five feet, your kitchen will not look like the inspiration photo. Your wood cabinets are the most beautiful part of your kitchen. Imagine warm white countertops and new backsplash instead of painting the cabinets.

I agree with apple pie. Your cabinets are beautiful and warm toned. Don’t go down the cool gray trail unless you plan to change everything in your kitchen.

The backsplash tile has a pink undertone on my monitor. I don’t think the cabinet color works with the two elements you are keeping. I’d advise against this plan. What would I do? Keep your cabinets and change the countertop and backsplash.

Agree with Apple Pie. Without a total remodel you will be unable to achieve your inspo look and will only remuddle what you already have. If this were my kitchen and I wanted to update it, I would redo the backsplash, paint, change the hood, remove or reface the upper cabinets as the arch style is dated and change out the hood.
