Whirlpool vs. Bosch Dishwasher-Need help
Comments (18)I have heard of some dishwashers getting louder over time, but usually it is so gradually that you do not notice. It is not like it is going to gain 20dB over time, maybe like 4-6dB over 10 years. Bosch has 3 models lines if dishwashers, Ascenta, Evolution, and Integra. I listed them from the lowest to highest. In each line there are 3 series, 300, 500, and 800, again lowest to highest. The Evolution line is the most popular, and are what most seem rave about. The Integra line is the quietest, relatively speaking, as most Bosch models are quieter than the competition. Miele also makes great dishwashers, but they start over $1000 and go to ~$2300. Asko has some lower models around $800, but I think they have had some leak problems recently. I am not saying all Whirlpool models are bad, just stay away from plastic tub models and go with their SS tub models. But those cost about the same as a nice Bosch, so decide if you need heated dry, and if you do, I would take a good look at some KitchenAid models, most people here like them a lot and they seem better built than most "American" dishwashers....See MoreAsko vs Bosch Dishwasher
Comments (9)I have had mid level Asko, Bosch and Miele in the past 10 years in that order. I have preferred Miele, Asko, and Bosch in that order. I actually replaced the Bosch in less than 1 year after installing it because of its small capacity when compared to the older Asko. In the Bosch, I could not fit all of my daily dishes in 1 load as "easily" as the other brands. This was a big surprise to me! I really hated the lack of capacity in the Bosch that I had. Using my dishes, Bosch has a poorly designed upper side rack relative to the other two. Asko and Miele has metal upper narrow side racks (these are used to hold wine glass stems in general) and Bosch uses plastic rack. Only one side has the rack on the Bosch in the model that I bought. Both Asko and Miele, I can fit coffee cups under the side rack and put something flatish on the "wine glass holder". With Bosch, I could not (the pastic would not go down) do this with my coffee cups. So I had about 3 lineal ft less of usable rack. Bosch also does not have enough steepness on the rack to drain water off the bottoms of the upside down glasses and cups, so they were more wet. Miele has a flip down rack even on the lower rack which increases the capacity when compared to the others. I use this alot, again increasing the capacity. When I looked at the Asko this time, I really did not like the odd third rack that Asko was touting on their upper end models. I seriously thought of buying another Asko but I wanted to try using the cutlery rack. Asko had the cutlery rack in the middle section and I thought that this would make the handing of the taller items more difficult. I don't have real life experience on this, just a hunch. After using the cutlery rack, I do think the cutlery rack washes them better.... In terms of cleaning abilities, they are all about the same, IMHO. For me, Bosch was the most sensitive to the type of detergent I used. In the old Asko, I sporadically used a rinsing agent. When used, I saw minimal difference. I have a Miele with built in softener but I don't use it. Both of these factors are proabably due to my soft water. I think they are all about the same for the noise level, all pretty quiet but not silent. The models are not super high end models where the noise level drops off significantly on the spec. Bosch and Miele have express or short wash but they were not able to clean my daily dishes well enough to use them in my daily use. Many people seem to be able to use these settings but I could't. I just run the normal wash. In my old Asko, there was a heating coil that you could turn on and off. I always had the heating coil turned off after "burning" a few plastic items that dropped down. I think they don't make them that way any more. Hope this helps....See MoreBosch Dishwasher Feedback & Concerns
Comments (13)Data is what you've been getting above before your second post. Homeowners telling you that they use jetdry and their plastics come out damp (eandhl & paddy) to somewhat damp (lightly starched and then me). Effiemyrtle added her level on satisfaction on the dry plastics debate after your post. To this extent, this is all the data you're going to get in an anonymous, blind, unregulated forum, consequently, I still don't understand what you're hoping to get from your post. There are so many variables that govern drying performance - water conditions, jet-dry setting being just a couple of the variables. I will tell you that the majority of people who have reported being delighted with their european DWs are that way because they are taken with the fantastic WASHING performance as even quite messy dishes come out excellently clean. The quiet while doing so is the other big appeal. These are the two distinguishing characteristics. You're just not going to find people euphoric about the DWs drying results - we are all generally more than satisfied with that but we are thrilled with how reliably clean the DW turns up. Allow me to summarize what has been reported on this site on DWs: Most folks do use jetdry. Most folks for whom bone dry is a preference purchase domestic DW that does have a heated dry. Most folks with a bosch/miele/asko dw deal with the water that's left and don't find it too cumbersome. Some people really hate the dishwashers that they have bought (including the domestics GE, KA, WP etc.). ;-)...See MoreBosch or Miele Dishwasher Decision
Comments (41)I bought the Miele G5775 SCSF and paid the overpriced fee to have Miele do the install directly. This was for a new house. Just moved in and tried to use the dishwasher for the very first time. It immediately went to a lockout state with an error message, and will not even run the for the very first load. Called Miele and was told it would be 10 days before they could get a tech to even look at it (and I'm hoping he won't have to wait to order parts). Needless to say I'm not at all pleased moving into a new house with a new top-line (supposedly "reliable") dishwasher, then having to hand-wash dishes. Miele's so-called "Concierge Service" is a joke. Don't know if Bosch is any better....See MoreTBL from CT
