Cambria quartz counters just installed!
Comments (29)Your counters look great! I was wondering if you would mind telling me about your seams. I just had Caesarstone counters installed, and noticed that I can feel the seams, which surprised me since I thought manufactured stone would be easier to make flush so the seam would barely be noticeable. If you rub your hand over your seam with eyes closed, can you tell it is there? Do you feel that water and dirt can accumulate in that seam and will have to be cleaned out by running a cloth down the length of the seam? Just want to see if I'm being too picky! Thanks!...See MoreGoing to cry...is this counter installation acceptable to you? Seam in
Comments (56)I only mean that the guy doing the counter is responsible for the faucet hole placement. He’d have to simulate an installed faucet to see how far that handle goes back. I’d be surprised to see a regular counter guy looking for the faucet handle clearance. It’s not their job to spec the faucets or double check the handle or make sure the sink depth leaves enough room for the faucet and all it’s parts. The KD is responsible for that stuff. If the homeowner is the KD, there ya go. I recently made this mistake. It was my fault. My Rohl faucet handle hits the window trim. But the powder room faucet not centered on the sink, that was their mistake and they had to replace that counter. We can agree to disagree....See MoreAcceptable work on Arctic White quartz counter?
Comments (14)The quality is not top notch , for sure. Looks to be builder grade fabrication and install. Which brings in the question price point of the job and source for the product and labor. Budget builders have different standards that are handled by high production, mediocre quality, shops. Builders are about low cost and speed, not quality. For a higher precision homeowner quality job, gaps at walls of 1/8”- 3/16” and a bit of color variance at a small 1/16” seam is within industry standards. A poor color match repair and a chipped seam isn’t. Larger gaps than 3/16” at the back and wall isn’t acceptable unless this run is bound in between two fixed points that do not allow maneuvering. Builder level jobs have higher tolerances for gaps and seams than do a top notch homeowner grade job. If they can fix that color match chip and seam acceptably, the gaps at the out of square side wall are manageable. A backsplash will cover to the rear. And a bit of a float out in the crooked wall will deal with the side area if no splash is planned for that....See MoreDevastated over Cambria USA Counter Top Brittanica
Comments (39)It looks very fresh and new. You can absolutely tie them together well and it will look fabulous. I know how hard it is to have a vision in your head, and then how sad it is when what you end up with doesn't match the picture in your head. But I'd recommend trying to regain some perspective. No one has died, it's done well, and it's going to be beautiful. There is no way in heck I'd pay money to rip that out and start over. However everyone is different with money and I'm sort-of cheap. I save forever for major projects like this and I've learned one has to be willing to roll with the punches on a major reno. Stuff always takes longer, costs more, and looks a little different than what I saw in my head.......See MoreK R
