Girls Bathroom coloring
Dilemma here: A few years ago we moved into a freshly gut-remodeled mid-century ranch. It's modern and neutral, and we have added our own touches over time. However, our tween daughter wants a more feminine feel to her bathroom, which we are on board with. The challenge: the tile and countertops are tan-based, and we are struggling with how to feminize with colors without clashing with tile/countertops. We aren't going to rip it all out just yet, LOL.
Any tips or advice on paint or paper that will also compliment the existing hard features is appreciated! I go back and forth on wallpaper (perhaps along the left wall only?) worrying that it won't stand up to her love of steamy showers!

Comments (9)Well, there is no way I would post a picture of my kids' bathroom on the internet, LOL!, but we went with monkeys (it seemed appropriate). I found very cute monkey bath mat, hand towels, soap dispenser, and waste basket at Linens N Things. They also had a cute shower curtain, but we didn't need it. Each kid has their own stepstool in front of their sinks -- you can get them with storage inside or without, and can either paint their names on or have their names painted. They each have their own towels and toothbrush holders to their liking. For non-guest bathrooms, I like to keep the color white/creamy white because it provides better light for getting ready. This keeps the room pretty neutral. We haven't remodeled the bathroom yet, but the POs used a pretty neutral creamy faux marble countertop and off-white tiles on the floor and in the tub, so there's nothing that screams GIRL or BOY. Eventually, we'll put in some nicer fixtures and surfaces, but I'm still going to keep the colors very much white, cream or tan. I didn't see any finishing pieces that were in the same line, I almost feel like a pencil line or something like that would mess with the bubble effect a bit. My girls have rejected all things pink/purple and their favorite colors are green and blue. Their room is stem green- hope to show you guys that pretty soon. This will also be (albeit very occasional) guest bathroom as well. I need to pick hardware and a shower curtain/rugs as well. The bathroom is a lot of whitish (large hex tile floor/large format tile shower alcove, and a white (long double sink) quartz vanity counter/also top of pony wall). The vanity is oak. All the fixtures/vanity lights are brass (aged). There is a window at the far end. I thought just off white walls might be too much white, although I guess I could change that with wall "add ons". We live in a country setting, the house is a shrine to mother nature : ), so that is where the green comes from....See More

2 years agoPink and tan go well together. So do pink and gray. You could do a wallpaper or decals. Accessorize with shower curtain, new glass or ceramic colored or flower shaped hardware for the cabinets, artwork.

2 years agoAgree with the paint chat, and also think that changing the mirror frame to something lighter would help -- silver glitter or gold, maybe. Then soft rug(s), maybe crystal accessories, some art with color to harmonize...

2 years agoWe might suggest painting the bathroom a white or a nice blush color. We also think you could easily add some accessories to help make the space more feminine. Perhaps try updating the lighting and mirrors, along with the hardware on the cabinets, adding artwork, mats, and towels that are more feminine.
