satin nickel, pewter or antique pewter pulls with chrome faucet?
Comments (13)Hi everybody! Thank you for all your support and Capegirl05 for your empathy! The countertops will be Yellow River granite with an ogee edge. I will have a beadboard chimney shaped hood over the cooktop which will match the cabinets. I also have an pot rack that I have had for quite a few years from William Sonoma that I would like to use over the island (just not sure how that will look but I thought I would try it since it's pretty and gives me more space in the cabinets for other pots and pans). I'm looking for a Country French/vintage look with the fluted apron front sink. I don't want anything super contemporary. We have a pine table made from old wood with farmhouse legs. I did buy a kind of transitional light fixture from Pottery Barn in polished nickel (with two glass pendants that hang). That seems fine with the chrome faucet. Today I went to the only place around where I could see the knobs but unfortunatley, they only had the antique pewter and I couldn't see the Tob Knobs satin nickel. I did see the pewter light and that I discounted right away as being too light gray. A good friend of mine was so kind to come with me. (We surrepticiously unscrewed knobs from the display board, put them on my cabinet I had brought, looked at them and then re-screwed them all without a screwdriver and returned them to the board!) My friend is a proponent of knobs on cabinets and the pulls on the drawers and he found Top Knobs M 351 in brushed satin to go along with the pull I like that I linked above. I will put it below. He and another friend feel I shouldn't do all pulls. He is voting for the satin nickel knob and pull. It is certainly a bit cheaper to put the knobs on the cabinets than pulls everywhere but I don't want that to be the decision maker. My other friend likes the antique pewter. It was interesting I noticed the same knob looked too dark in the antique pewter and I don't even mind the satin nickel knob with the antique pewter pull. I will have ss appliances, this pot rack over the island that is a darkish ss. So after today I can say pewter is out, but I'm still torn between the satin nickel (which I didn't see today) and the antique pewter that I did see. And of course all pulls or pulls and knobs. AYYYY. I guess I need some kind of reassurance that I haven't screwed everything up by having so many metals. Please keep the posts coming. They are helping me so much! Comments (6)Thanks everyone. The ORB is a living finish (both are actually) so will change with use and time and will start black but become more bronze with wear. I don't have a sample for the faucets. Have seen both but plumbing supply place won't let us the board to see it against the quartzite. Kitchen design is more traditional. Not looking to be modern. I think the Caribbean Bronze will work with the veining and agree that metals don't all need to be the same. We chose pendant lights that are more of a pewter finish with crystals that cover most of the metal so I didn't want to keep adding materials. We also have original door handles and window pulls throughout the home in ORB. I'm torn because I love the CB but the ORB seems safer....See MoreSatin nickel faucet with brushed gold hardware and lighting?
Comments (16)Both the Champagne Bronze Delta faucets and the Brizo stainless steel faucets we bought were above the cost of what you could get a standard faucet for in stainless steel with a traditional design. However, we were able to maximize discounts by shopping online for the lowest prices which sometimes involve a percentage off discount sale since Delta/Brizo and other brands put a cap on how low resellers can advertise the list prices. Also be aware that some faucets being ordered online right now are being delayed weeks out due to lower capacities in manufacturing and shipping delays due to the pandemic. Our faucet order placed last week is projected to arrive in 3 weeks. If cost is a big concern, maybe the polished nickel might be a compromise after all, but again, polished nickel is frequently higher in cost than stainless steel, so if it was the gold/brass color you really wanted, then polished nickel is only getting you halfway to that goal for an increased cost anyway....See MoreKitchen Cabinet Hardware - Silver or Gold? Pulls or Knobs?
Comments (1)I think it depends on the rest of the spaces and the lighting as to what color pulls and knobs.I prefer pulls everywhere and in proportion to the cabinets I never like 2 knobs or pulls on drawers and what do you have the wings on either side of the over hang.? What is the floor going to be ?IMO pulls are one of the last choices to make along with wall color and backsplash..Those choices should be made after making sure all lighting is LED in 4000K. As for timeless I think more important is what you love the next guy can change the pulls and knobs to whatever they love....See MoreMichelle
