Lighting for Red Aglaonema
Comments (20)My local SuperCenter had some for sale during last xmas season. After the New Year, they all went on clearance. They were all still so beautiful and healthy, I just couldn't say no. I ended up with three of them and I repotted them all together into one larger pot. They have done wonderfully all year long. They sit on a table next to my South-facing back porch, where it only gets partial shade/dappled sunlight all day long. Rarely have I had to water it, but that's because my area tends to get regular thunderstorms that roll thru quite often. It bloomed for me earlier this year. (I regret not getting any photos, but their blooms are pretty much inconspicuous anyways.) When I keep it indoors for the winter, it sits on a shelf that only gets minimal indirect sunlight at best, and it does just fine. Tho I may place it in a brighter location this coming winter, because they're all grouped together in a larger pot now. I know I say this about all of my plants, but this is definitely one of my favorites. I just love the bright colors, and they're so easy to care for. :)...See MoreYellowing Leaves on Hibiscus
Comments (13)I live just NW of metro PHX and so am in the open desert. What variety of Hibiscus is it? I have a Lilac Hibiscus that is from Austraila and a Crown of Bohemia and they are nothing alike. The Lilac was yellowing and as soon as I quit watering and moved it into more sun it got very happy. It was flowering when I got it at Lowes and has continued to do so for a month with no signs of letting up. The other one didn't fare well over the winter but is coming back nicely. Both are in 15 gallon landscape pots which will be placed in holes still in pots as the weather warms. They were both placed in these pots over the last week. Is there a need for me to worry about feeding right away or will they be ok in fresh potting soil for the summer? Note: everything I have growing is potted at this time as gophers are a major problem and poisons are not an option....See MoreRed Aglaonema has yellow leaves
Comments (3)It's perfectly natural for them to occasionally shed older leaves. Otherwise, your red aglao looks happy and healthy. :)...See MorePeace Lily, healthy new growth, yellowing leaves
Comments (8)Not sure about changes in water quality, we are on town water and I have always used it for watering my Peace Lily. No recent house moves either and I just checked - we have both fluoride and chlorine added to the water supply. I switched potting mixes due to the aforementioned problem of yellowing leaves. Basically as a trial in a more open mix to determine whether or not I WAS over watering. I don't think I was, as all the roots were white and healthy (although rootbound). I'm debating whether or not to unpot the plant just to check the roots. But maybe I'll wait on that. I need to do a bit of research to determine whether or not I have her planted too low in the medium and if I have, I'm planning on replanting her in the correct position. I'll finish the watering experiment first though, just to rule that out....See More- 2 years ago
