Nice sconces! We have 4x40w bulbs, 2 each in two sconces, in our small master ensuite. It's adequate but barely, partly because I find the glass a little too thick and it dims the bulbs quite a bit. I'm waiting for them to die so I can put in slightly brighter LEDs. I would think it WOULD be adequate for a powder room -- guests don't need to see every pore and cat hair on the floor. In my 5x5 powder I have 2 60s in an overhead fixture and it's pretty darn bright. Especially since I replaced the charcoal grey fixtures with white ones. Just my 2 cents....I love the Casa Vieja Outlook in Brushed Nickel ceiling fan. I am putting it on my list too. My only concern is total kitchen lighting. David, those instructions are for general installation of this fixture. Nowhere, that I could see, do they specifically mention sloped ceiling adjustments. You must be saying that the additional chain links are added on each side of the underside of the canopy plate and then attach to the threads for each rod and then the canopy mounts to the ceiling, no? If this is incorrect, hopefully all will be clear once the fixture arrives. The bottom line is that all should be well with the appropriate professionals involved, whereas before I was hesitant to place an order. By the way, thanks for the warning to use a solid structure for attachment at the ceiling. One last question, do you have a recommendation whether the smaller or larger 3 light fixture would be the most appropriate size? There is room for either with a 12 ft. vaulted ceiling. My table top is a 38" wide x 60" long rectangle . The smaller chandelier is 7.75"w x 31.25"l x 18"h. The larger is 11.5"w x 40"l x 23"h. The room is small. Once, again, thank you for all your time and assistance.

Let's see if I can get this conversation back on track ;) The question of insulation (I will call it shielding) would probably come from the thought of electromagnetic interference, or induction. This is often seen when testing to see if a wire is hot with one of those non-contact glowing voltage testers. For example, it will show the red wire in a 12-3 cable as hot when only the black is really hot. This is not likely the problem, but there might be a small chance of it contributing IF the switch legs of the lights and fan run up to the fan junction box together in a 12-3 cable, before splitting off to the lights. A fan motor runs best on a pure sine wave. A distorted wave can cause a hum. LED bulbs can also buzz for the same reason. All dimmers listed for LED bulbs do not play well with all bulbs. It can often be a guessing game of changing out dimmers or bulbs before you get the best combination. A less than optimal combination can cause poor power quality throughout the house. (A closer proximity can also make the effect worse, in the right circumstance) This is 'inside the wiring' and has nothing to do with "shielding" with respect to the fan motor. You may have more electronics causing this than just the LEDs and dimmers.
