can you take a picture of the whole window wall? I am thinking to tile the whole window wall and stop when the peninsula ends but can't tell for sure without pic

First of all, quartz behind that cooker will require some heat shield it will SCORCH. Frankly? the kitchen suits best to tile. : )

I'd re think my plan, and really hard to advise without knowing the quartz you are planning, and IF that made sense in this application.

Logic would say to bottom of cabinets, continue height ALL the way across at same , even between windows, and stop at seating EDGE of peninsula.

But seems a tile would be a far better plan. Same method, location.

Most important is to know the quartz, and that you be home to discuss where the seams will be on top - and and the splash. I'll hope this has no strong veining.

It’s actually composite granite so it’ll be fine with the heat. We’re not changing our plan, we hate cleaning grout with a deep deep passion. Like I said, measurements are being taken today to start cutting tomorrow. Slabs are already paid for. Just wanted some design help on the height above the peninsula and between the windows.

We don’t have enough slabs for the whole wall without a wonky number of seams

Why, Jan, ”no strong veining”? ( Not an issue I assume, for you ? ) You said quartz, and many do have strong veining. Not good in corners, or with lots of seams. as matches can't be ever guaranteed. )

It is the resin part that will make it problematic behind a stove.

I think her material is basically a version of "silgranite"......heat to 500 degrees. Or I am wrong. Look at the link

It’s rated for 500F and shouldn’t be a problem with regular stovetop cooking.

Jan I’m not worried nor do I care or expect veining to match. I know how these threads can get super off topic, and thank you for your input, but we hate backsplash tile, and our decision has been made. My question was about the height of the backsplash above the countertop.

I’ve regrouted enough kitchen counters for a lifetime. Never again lol.

I guess do what you like and cry later. ? As to seams and veining? You WILL care, When it is too late. This a backsplash, in a kitchen. I have no idea what your're cooking. But it isn't tile on a floor, it isn't a shower and a thing wiped up when spills and splashes haooen ? Is not a project.

Better read the fine print on your material. Which suggests same thing.

in this backsplash, they did the full area above the stove, and kept it "cabinet height" everywhere else. however, I feel like this works because tile is thin, there is not much of a lip at the top edge. if you have a granite slab on the wall, how thick is it? if it's thick and sticking out of the wall, it might look odd, especially where it stops at the peninsula. if the wall slab is as thin as tile, then maybe it would look ok.

When you said "also quartz" you are implying that you are using engineered stone for a countertop and backsplash. There is no such thing as "granite composite" no matter what the marketing people for the sink manufacturer says. It is all quartz and resin; granite has too much mica and feldspar to be suitable for filler. I'm not aware of any "composite granite" countertops made of the same material as the quartz composite sinks.

You must design and install your splash in conjunction with your appliance manufacturer's instructions, particularly if your splash is engineered stone.

Contrary to engineered stone manufacturer's claims, estone is 66% quartz and 33% resin. The nonsense about 95% quartz and 5% resin is a measure by weight, which is meaningless, not by volume. Resin is heat sensetive and it makes up a third of your splash.

I'd say cabinet height all around, lower might look odd since the cabinets are along the wall on the other side of the windows.
