How to decorate the master bedroom?

Hi all!

I’m having such a hard time deciding on the final design of our master bedroom. I’m not very excited about having the bed on the wall with the awkward window, but it’s really the only place in the room that makes sense.

how would you handle window coverings in this room? Would curtains look off being behind the bed? any help is greatly appreciated!!

You can do better than this arrangement. You’re wasting a ton of space. Are you putting a dresser anywhere? Can you do a mock up floor plan/drawing so we can understand what those doorways are, include measurements of each wall and of the bed.

Pick curtains that are as close to the wall color as possible - you don't them to pop out too much, but to blend in and give the room softness. I'd pick dark furniture that goes with the darker shades in the floor. Pick some art that picks up on some of the rug colors, pick throw cushions for the bed that do the same. Not sure why two different greys were used on the walls - I would have done just one grey color so as not to confuse the eye too much. FOcal point should probably be the bed area, so hang some lovely art over the bed.

You may want to start saving inspiration rooms you love; it will really help if you have a direction. I would purchase the rug fist vs bedding and cushions so you have a style to build on. Be sure to use various colors, patterns and textures so it feels more interesting The headboard is high and I think art above each night stand would be more complimentary and use small brass lamps for a modern look. You could add the sign on another wall If you need a bedskirt, a more tailored style would feel more modern Dresser and tv wall - mirror, plant, chair, art, baskets

The reason I’m not crazy about navy is, that by doing gray on bed frame, you’re in a murkier palette— or softer— compared to crisp navy. So other colors that have that same softness or grayed value will look better. So if blues , then ones that are not as crisp and cool. Unless you do more careful color palette coordination, which is possible but in my experience is hard for a lot of people. Something like using a print fabric or a range of colors In artwork. But just random solids, not so much.

You may have to approach the design of your bedroom as a color block exercise with draperies stacked to one side of the window

Maybe wall mounted swing arm adjustable lights

And some interesting wall art pieces.

It looks like your bed might be able to fit on the wall without the window to the right. However it would most likely not fit in the middle of the wall since there is a door. If you have to keep the bed on that current wall you might try a wall or draperies. If that's not something you like then you might be able to try artwork on the other side of the window and that might help even things out some.
