Paint Design Dilemma

Sherwin Williams Designer Color Collection

I'm STILL trying to find the perfect off-white or light greige color for my open floor plan. Has anyone done any work with, and found any favorites in the new Sherwin Williams Designer Color Collection? I'm looking at Sanctuary SW 9583, White Sesame SW 9586, Sunbleached SW 9585. In their regular collection I'm drawn to White Duck SW 7010. I do want at least a slight contrast with my trim (plan to use Pure White) and so that keeps me from wanting to use Alabaster every time I go back to it; I just would not be able to get enough contrast (other than just using it on both and using more sheen on the trim). I like a little contrast. My fixed furnishings are not dark but they are warm. Any thoughts?

SW Shoji White is my favourite off-white. I also love SW origami white.

I bought the current issue of Beautiful Kitchens today and saw a lovely vintage look kitchen with yellow cabinets. I thought, hmmm, that might be a nice change from the creamy white I was considering. So I looked up the color and was please to see Sea Oats and Dupioni on the ceiling, Sherwin Williams. Great, I thought, I'll get my SW fandeck out and see the color IRL. Except, it wasn't there. A quick google for Sea Oats paint came up with Martha @ SW. So, I started remembering how great those colors were and I'm totally kicking myself for purging all my paint cards a few years ago. DH is forever on my case because I can't resist them and they're everywhere. I'm headed to my Mom's this Thanksgiving. I'm hoping she has some still lying around. I inherited my paint chip addiction from her. Can't wait! Keep the colors coming. I'd love to see pictures if you've got them.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for-warmth without going yellow. I’m sure you’ve read about the northern light adding a chilling effect to the room. What’s the reason for not using BM? My contractor said they prefer BM but would be willing to use a different brand if we wanted to, and I am having a hard time selecting the main color in BM (I have tons of sample paint already). SW has paint consultants that charge you to come out and help select your paint colors and then reduce that charge when you buy the paint. I haven’t heard of that with BM so I am trying to hire a paint consultant to help me. Or hiring an SW consultant and just have them match the BM paint to an SW color. Paint is a big decision! I’m putting in a white oak flooring as well.

And I also caution you to evaluate your paint with all samples of all hard elements together - so any wood, stone, tile, carpet, major textiles like sofas, bedding, etc ALL together at the same time...again, pure white is great for cabinets and trim but something soft and not so bright for the walls will look more pulled together and ‘finished’. Your first inspiration pic where all walls and trim in all one color is not a bright white like Pure White. Your second inspiration pic which shows only trim/wainscot is probably a brighter white like Pure White however then I ask what was the wall color used with it and with what other fixed materials? If you want a complete white on white look like your first pic you will need to go darker than Pure White (IMO and Maria Killams:)

Was thinking pattern on the rattan chair/ottoman and solid grey on the daybed with pops of pillows of the same colors as in the fabric...orange, teal, etc...different shapes and sizes on the daybed...or I could reverse the two...since the main thing your eye will see from the kitchen/living room is the daybed...

Hi there, I’m curious if you ended up using any of the new colors and what you thought. My color consultant just recommended white sesame. We do have alabaster trim already.

White Duck looks very yellow on my walls. I have Pure White trim

We tried out mortar - between sanctuary and sunbleached . It was lighter and much cooler thsn the chip. A chalky outplish tone . Yes we did get it in the Emerald paint .

I love sw white sesame but trying to find out if there is a little pink I it. I am looking for a shade this color with a little pink so it blends with my sandy beige floor that has a little pink. Don’t want the pink in the floor to brighten more and clash. If I go with a beige paint without a pink undertone the floor shows more pink.

I love white duck but be careful in southern and western facing rooms, it turns quite golden.

Divine White, Moderate White, and Pacer White are lovely greiges, off white, that have subtle pink undertones
