Still waiting on skirt

Ordered a skirt from an Etsy seller from China on Aug. 7th. It arrived in Chicago Illinois on Aug. 16th. As of today, it's still in Chicago according to the tracking info. I'm in Ohio. I bought it to wear to a wedding this Saturday (Aug.28th.). Looks like I won't receive the skirt in time. Probably could drive there and get the skirt and be home in time for the 4pm. wedding. ha - not.

I ordered a baby gift from a shop in Brrooklyn on etsy. It took a few weeks to be made, then it started a journey to Florida where it knocked around several postal facilities in different cities for a few days, wandered around within cities and even within facilities, finally migrated back up to Buffalo, over the border to Toronto and its destination a bit east of there. It traveled for well over a week. I could have driven to Brooklyn and up to the Kawarthas and home in less time. Except the border was closed.

I’m glad I ordered the 18-month-old size!

I ordered a tiny little diamond 14k ring from a seller in Crompton Maryland in early February, it arrived late July! ♥ I'm not sure what's going on with the mail lately....

Years ago I ordered a lime tree from the same company. It takes them forever to ship out. I received the tree after about a month of waiting. Calling and giving bad reviews didnt help. When the tree arrived it was exactly what i expected for the price: a small rooted cutting. It was a great tree to practice citrus culture on because it was so inexpensive...I eventually killed it and learned from the growing experience. My current citrus are from Four Winds.

Waiting for Rough Building Inspection - what can you still work on?

You can work on anything that has nothing to do with the remodeling portion for which permit was issued. In other words, anything that wasn't disturbed you can work on it. When rough building inspection is involved, the inspector needs to see all exposed areas of floor/wall/ceiling cavities and all structural components has to be exposed if that was part of the permit application. Also, some jurisdictions require bathroom inspection prior to it's being tiled to make sure proper wall covering is used. As an example in my area that is a requirement but at the same time DCA issued a statement that if a certain jurisdiction has such requirement, it is up to building inspector to get there first thing in the morning and inspect the wall covering, because the tile contractor can proceed with tile work not to hold the job up if inspector is not there. I would call them and find out what you can do or not so you don't have issues. Because even if you right and the inspector is not, you can lose a day or 2 just proving ur point if he says you shouldn't do this or that even when you could. It's not common but some inspectors can be difficult just trying to prove something. Good luck

Thanks everyone! Most of my seedlings are crosses of purples/cranberries, so it's nice to see something a little different. :) There are a few other seedlings from that cross that should bloom soon too. Nat, it seems like maybe 1/2 of mine bloom the year after planting. I didn't really keep records prior to last year - so here's some preliminary info from that. Last spring, March - May, I started a bunch of seeds inside. In September, I planted 157 of those seedlings in the ground. I lost maybe 10% of those over the winter (I need to actually count, but haven't done that). I currently have about 90 of those with scapes... and I'm guessing some more might put up scapes. That's a lot more than I was expecting. I did direct sow one batch of seeds in the ground last year - I don't remember when, but probably May. Of those seeds, several sprouted and 1 of them has a scape. I did not plant many seeds this spring, got a really late start (May) and only have about 20-30. The heat we've had is too much though and I'm not sure how many of those will even make it. I also planted some directly in the ground in June and a few in cups inside a week or two ago and those are sprouting now. Not many of the ones in the ground are sprouting, too many critters around messing with things.

I wonder if it's the same management that my son had in Rogers Park. His roommates were on the road, on the way to move in. DS and I went to pick up the keys and MGT said oh, the floors won't be ready for a couple of days. It was fine for DS, we just went home. But he had to call his roommates and tell them to turn around. (This was like 4 years ago, so no Covid issues) Here's hoping you're in for the new year! And before it snows.

Some friends in my town have not received any mail in weeks. they were able to get our US senator to come for a public meeting over this. have not heard any resolution yet.

I have been deceived by many China purchases. Will not purchase anymore unless I have to. If it is a link they sent you that it is New York. Do not use that link, Double check on site from transport company, that is if you have a tracking number and a company they sent with. Bet ya you will not find it. They have been known to give you a "fake" tracking number generated by them, not a real one. Happened to me a couple of times, never got the items. Also this is why I ALWAYS use PayPal to back me up. I have always got my money back from PayPal.

A lot of the Asian sellers on Etsy and various other hosting sites are bogus. If the item is sent or received at all, it is often much different from what any published photos indicate, sizing is typically way off and the materials used are not as described. Customer service is nonexistent, no replies to any emails and generally, one just has to bite the bullet with whatever you get.

Caveat emptor!!

Re the fake tracking number. Yeah, I've gotten those emails with tracking numbers that aren't even clickable - and not from China. The first email I got from this Etsy seller had a non-clickable. Then she sent a second email with a UPS tracking number with it. Looks legit, maybe not. This is the first time I've ordered from China (that I know of).

Go to UPS site directly with tracking number and put it in, not thru the link. And see if it works.

I have had more than one shipment get waylaid in the Chicago area post offices. Either lost entirely or bounced around between branch locations and significantly delayed. Always groan when I check tracking and see that an item is in Chicago.
