Half bath off front entry or none? (layout help)
Comments (8)I could reverse them, but then is it strange to have the toilet RIGHT on the other side of the dining room? (And to have it across from the front entry door?) And, it'd mean no mirror above the sink. I'm hesitant to do the pocket door for sound and privacy reasons. A swing in door absolutely won't work (no room to turn around to close it). The window is a high window about 5 feet off the ground and only 2' x 2'. It'll have a decorative stained glass insert that you won't be able to see through. It's already all framed in - no changing it now!...See MoreCosmetic updates to a half bath with offset sink- need style help!
Comments (3)This half bath is powder room guests would use? So maybe you want a bit of glam? Do you like Blues? Rich blue tones with gold framed mirror, fixture, handles & lighting is what comes to mind for me. If you paint rather than wallpaper, pattern could be in window treatment & wall art with gold frame....See Morehelp me with spooky attic half bath
Comments (8)There is no NEED to have a mirror over a sink. To the right will work just fine. I would tread very lightly adding to this home, doing it right will be costly and involved being sure it's supported all the way to the basement. #1DD looked at too many homes in this genre where dormers/bathrooms were added and the houses are now caving in on themselves!!...See MoreHelp fixing up half bath to modern farmhouse style
Comments (14)I think this is just the right time to brainstorm. I can be lazym and sometimes cheap, so for me I'd avoid the headache of beadboard on the walls and just get a color scheme and accessories that signal modern farmhouse. 1. Remove the cabinet above the toilet and add open wood floating shelves. 2. Paint it bright white, put in black faucet, get a wood mirror or black thin metal frame mirror. A circular or capsule shaped mirror could be nice. 3. Or, paint it a sexy dark color and use some brass faucets and towel rods and wood accessories. I had a modern farmhouse powder room with a floor almost the same as yours and a little white sink. I painted the walls Ben Moore racoon fur, hung a vintage mirror, brass chandelier, and vintage glass towel rod. Guests *loved* our room and two friends copied the look and color in their homes. 4. No matter what, search for great funky farmhouse lighting that will be the eye catching jewelery to your space. I wouldn't try to find one room as an example to copy, but rather mix and match colors, textures, and shapes from various powder rooms that you gravitate too....See Moreteebabee
