pattis: Thanks for the compliment. We wanted a warm color on our walls because our bathroom is on the north side of the house....very cold in the winter. Our 10 year old granddaughter spent the night this weekend and she only uses the master bathroom because we are in the midst of diy-ing the other bathroom. Anyway, I realized after she left that the sink was clean...There weren't any drops of hand soap on the sink or counter. With the previous soap dispenser, there was always soap in the sink after the grandkids used it.

I had the same dilemma, and I asked about it in the thread below. I did not get one. I keep the dish soap under the sink. I was all about ease of cleaning, and I didn't want another thing to clean around. That said, I have friends who have three dispensers next to the sink in their beautiful, functional kitchen: one for dish soap, one for hand soap, and one for hand lotion. I love my Never MT. We built a new house and put one in each bathroom, where I use hand soap(softsoap) and in the kitchen where I use dish soap. The only problem I've had is that in one bathroom, I had to replace the Never MT...it leaked at the valve. This has happened twice. But it's still worth it. Actually the first one was replaced by the manufacturer after 6 months use.

There's nothing scary about tap water from a commercial or municipal source. Purity and safety monitoring are required to be ongoing. It's very rare for anyone to get sick from water freshly taken from such sources. The Grand Rapids situation is a major exception/aberration. Water from a private well, different story. Very many of these sources can be chemically or bacteriologically unhealthy, especially those near agricultural areas where commonly tapped aquifers frequently get contaminated with crop chemicals and runoff from animal waste. Distilled water is cheap but boiling tap water for several minutes will produce the same, nearly sterile result perfectly suitable for use for mixing in hand soap. Whether or not water is added, soap containers can often get moldy anyway and benefit from periodic cleaning.
