Comments (59)a whole lot of scented things bother me - physically. my sister uses the plug in scent things. everything she sends to me smells like it. If it's clothes, i have to wash them or hang them outside for several days. even non cloth things smell like it. I can't use (or be around where it is used) Windex or Lysol. I had to walk right back out of Target one day - as I walked in, I passed a check out lane where the clerk was cleaning her counter with Windex. I felt it instantly and left. I use to wear White Diamonds, then one day, I couldn't anymore - or even be around those who do. A girl in the office started using it and we had to ask her not to anymore at work. If caused my throat to close up. As did one of those 'hang in the car' things. I bought one for my car (yrs ago) with a coconut scent (which I like) but when I sat in my car reading the newspaper (outside the laundromat), my throat started closing up - it kept getting worse... and I was about to panic when i saw that thing (new) hanging on the mirror. Being the only thing new to me and my car, I took it off and threw it outside the car and left my car door open. It took a few minutes, but my throat began to release and I was ok. Never again! I buy scent free Kleenex (puffs) and detergent (Arm and Hammer). When i went to the laundromat, I had to use scent free dryer sheets - sometimes they were hard to find in stores around me. I'm very careful with cleaners, lotions, soaps, shampoo etc. In a way, it's a really a sad thing to be afflicted with... in another way, it's really a warning to us... a red flag to pay close attention to....See MoreHotel soap (fluff)
Comments (43)dawn, what I was trying to say (and wasn't very eloquent in trying) was that I've encountered people whose "I paid good money, they owe me" or "At those prices, they expect it" attitudes weren't limited to walking out with a bar of soap or a small bottle of shampoo. Hotels owe guests nothing but the use of a room as advertised. For those of you who really want to support a local shelter or charity of whatever kind, write them a check. They can do more with donated money (and probably have more need for money) than donated bars of soap and small bottles of shampoo....See Moreplacement of faucet, filter faucet, air switch, hand soap dispenser
Comments (14)“I cannot picture what one looks like with a handle in front.“ Here is a link to a thread on this topic. With this faucet handle placement, you do away with water, soap scum, and hard water minerals from dripping hands landing on the counter under the faucet. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2442104/positioning-single-handle-kitchen-faucet ”I'm not sure there's a more safe place or a less safe place as far as kids or someone touching the switch if someone had to stick their hands down the drain for if something like a fork fell in the drain...” You could also consider a “batch feed disposal”, in which there is no switch. The disposal is operated by a cover which doubles as a sink strainer and stopper. Push the cover in, the disposal starts. Pull the cover off, the disposal stops. The disposal can only operate with the cover on. There is no separate switch. There are pros and cons of each type of disposal - the “continuous feed“ which is what an air switch operates that you are talking about, and the “batch feed” which is what I just described. Read up on them if you are interested. I myself have a 1 hp batch feed disposal which I have had for many years because I too was concerned about my kids. Now they are grown but I still prefer the batch feed style. One caution is that my 1 hp batch feed disposal is large and takes up more room under the sink. This very quick video shows the cover of the Waste King batch feed disposal turning it on, turning it off, and acting as a stopper or as a strainer so you can see how the disposal works (though mine doesn’t have the strainer thingy shown at the very end. That strainer makes no sense since the black cover acts as the strainer). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=15y-l7sO3pM...See More
