oven not working in brand-new Frigidaire slide-in gas stove
Comments (0)Hi, My husband and I just moved into our new home; the previous owner installed brand-new Frigidaire stainless-steel appliances, including a slide-in gas stove (I believe the model is FGS365EC, according to a search on the Frigidaire website). We have been using the stovetop burners with no problem, but when we went to turn on the oven last night, we discovered that it isn't working. I've put in a call to the realtor to find out from her clients who installed the appliances (we have no idea where they were purchased), but unfortunately they're out of town. I'm wondering if this is an installation issue, or if we should call Frigidaire on Monday to see about having it serviced. I'm hoping someone on here might have an idea. The manual gives me no ideas whatsoever--it says that the heating element should automatically ignite the gas. The element is heating up, but there is no gas ignition. thanks, Jody...See MoreBrand new Bluestar oven not working, why oh why?
Comments (4)Yes, I have already talked to Pete at Bluestar and hopefully I will be getting a call from a repair technician in the morning. I do love cooking on the stove top. I've only used the bigger oven once since I've had it installed three weeks ago - the smaller oven is efficient for my family of four - and it cooks beautifully. Strange that something would go wrong already. Thanks, Marty. I do hope that if it is an igniter problem, that its easily repairable and that the technician doesn't have to pull it away from the wall - the horror! The finishing touches were just completed on the kitchen after so many months of construction....See MoreMiele Speed Oven - does it work well as a regular oven?
Comments (7)I did consider the Advantium initially. But was told by appliance salespeople that the Advantium still cooks with the halogen light even when used without the microwave. The KitchenAid speed oven also uses some kind of light I believe. So I don't consider that to be a "regular" oven. Now, beeing honest, there is no specific information that I am aware of that would make it to be "bad for you" to cook with the lights. But I don't feel completely comfortable with it just yet for some reason. annab6...See Morerange over stacked cooktop and under mount oven? Hestan range 36” ?
Comments (9)In Europe, buying a separate cooktop and wall oven is a very common configuration. So, if you are in that market, I wouldn't hesitate. But in the US, manufacturers don't really plan for this particular configuration. Wall ovens often are too tall, resulting in the door being too close to the floor and the top of the appliances hitting the cooktop. I'd strongly discourage you from going this route. If you do want a cooktop, then put the wall oven at roughly countertop height into one of your cabinets. It'll work much better that way. If you prefer a cooktop, get induction. I would never recommend cooktops for gas; it's just not as functional. Instead, with gas I'd get a rangetop (i.e. controls are on the front face of the cabinet). Bluestar makes a wonderful gas rangetop, by the way. If you do consider Bluestar, do not get the closed burner model. It's not playing to this brand's strength. We occasionally have this discussion on Houzz, and inevitably most people regret their decision, if they don't heed our advice. I strongly discourage you from buying a hood based on looks, only. While a hood looks like a very simple appliance, it is actually one of the more difficult things to get right. You'll regret your decision if you end up with something that looks good, but that is otherwise just noisy and doesn't actually vent. I probably would buy from a reputable vendor such as ModernAire or VentAHood, rather than from a general-purpose vendor. Miele makes great appliances in general, but vent hoods are really not their specialty. I am not even sure they make their own rather than rebranding somebody else's product....See MoreHU-982340127
