Comments (13)Word of caution: Yes, dark eyes can be allergic shiners, and that is what I thought I had half of my life. People thought that I was a pretty baby because I had such dark expressive eyes. They did not recognize that those dark eyes were due to a serious problem which could have killed me. I have since then learned from Chinese medicine that blackness and/or puffiness around the eyes can be a sign of kidney problems. True enough, I was diagnosed with a congenital kidney condition which is normally fatal in infancy. I had the condition corrected at age 35, and within a few months, the shiner as well as the puffiness disappeared. That was 35 years ago, and neither of them have returned, even though I still have serious allergies. Chinese medicine reads the health of internal organs. For example, the eyes tell you about the kidneys, the nose about the heart, the lungs on either side of the mouth, and the liver and gall bladder are read on the forehead between the eyes....See MorePermanent dark eye circles?
Comments (77)Something that helps me a lot with dark areas under my eyes (and sunken in eyes) is white mulberries (the actual berries—not the leaves, although I'm not sure whether or not the leaves help there, too). I have a lot of other issues that eating white mulberries alleviate, too (chronic constipation, depression, involuntary movements, auras, etc.; they strengthen my immune system, and I only get sick maybe once or twice a year, now, instead of every other month, and when I do get sick, it doesn't last as long; I should note that although it alleviates constipation, it doesn't give me anything like diarrhea if I eat too many; the berries seem to have an antimicrobial effect, and they make my lungs feel good right after I eat them when I breathe in). If I stop eating them, the issues come back, though, but it's pretty miraculous how they make them go away. I only need to eat a few berries a day. I think a few in the morning and a few at night works best (you don't need to eat loads of them). I didn't need to eat hardly any at all when I first started taking them, though (1-3 berries a day; I don't need many more than that now, but I usually eat at least 4 twice a day, although usually more than that: they do taste pretty good). Be consistent with when you take them. They sell them at The Grocery Outlet here locally (but nuts.com also sells them). When I first started taking them, if I ate too many (then too many wasn't very many), it would make me more depressed instead of less depressed (but I don't notice that happening so much anymore if I eat lots of them). So, dosage may matter. Does he have any other issues? Does he have light sensitivity (to indoor light), by chance? I do (especially to fluorescent light), and I think it's related, for me. Using computers a lot, I think, can make dark areas under the eyes worse. If you take vitamin D3 (at least 400iu a day), that should lessen the light sensitivity considerably....See Moreunder eye circles
Comments (17)Hi goldgirl, I think I remember that thread sometime ago, and made my complaint known then also. Like Ms. Pucci, the cost at this point, isn't an issue~I'm 71, and almost anything goes. lol When I was getting the Botox 2 years ago, I asked about the dark circles, and the dr. told me there was a new treatment, but he wasn't that familiar with it, so wasn't doing it yet. I'm sure by now he's an expert on the technique! I believe it was either the Restylane or Juv'ederm, since those were the only 2 fillers he used. I had a bit of (Restylane)injected for some deeper lines, so I would have to believe there isn't an issue with having an allergic reaction. Since I'm now in Austin, I'm researching for a new dr., and will definitely be getting the procedure. Ain't no time like the present! ;)...See MoreI've come full circle for paint - should have trusted my gut!
Comments (11)Mairin: Your kitchen is amazing! Have you posted any photos of your completed backsplash yet? Thank you so much for posting such good expansive shots of your RP walls. It looks a lot more tan on my screen, but I can tell that it is going to work great for me as my cabinets are almost as dark as yours and my granite is light (Blanco Romano). Based on the 14 x 8 panel I painted I tend to wonder if need to go a bit deeper in tone. I understand that most paint can be lightened as I've seen reference to 50% strength, but can the same thing be done to darken the paint? I was thinking perhaps just a 10% or 20% deepening. On the other hand once I get the full walls painted it may be just fine. I'll check out the decorator's white. Cloud White was also mentioned earlier but tends to be too yellow next to my horrible white/gray window frames that can't be changed out at this time, but BM lacey pearl might work well. raehelen: Cabot Trail reminds me of melted milk chocolate. The Edgecomb Gray which is next to the Revere Pewter on the swatch card has a bit more tan to it, but is still quite gray. It is lovely too, but I needed the cooler tone of the RP. In my spavce both tend to have a green cast in certain lights....See MoreRelated Professionals
