You say I'm having a migraine in my eye?
Comments (13)Sandy, I had daily migraines from the time I was a small child. I learned to live with them. Usually I could continue on with life, only occassionaly having to blacken the windows, put cotton in my ears and writhe on the bed for a few days. I was about 28 and working as an accountant when I suddenly had blurry vision every day at about 2:30 pm. I was still having the painful kind too. After a few weeks I went to the Dr and he told me I was having cluster migraines. He gave me some meds that would help for a couple of weeks then all the pain would come back and he'd switch to another med. The final straw was when I was driving to work (luckily I had a jeep and lived in the country) and looked at the sun and it had beautiful rainbows around it and I just drove toward it. I "came to" way off in a field, still driving toward the beautiful sun. I carefully got back on the road and continued on to work. I called the Dr and told him what happened and that I would rather have the migraines than experience all I'd been through with the meds. He said, "You know there is a government grant for something new called bio-feedback training and a local nurse practicioner is doing it here in Vt. I don't know anything about it, but I'm going to refer you." That was the end of my migraines. All kinds. For the first time in my life I my head was pain free. I guess it's like the silent migraines you talk about. They are still happening, but my body automatically goes into the bio-feedback routine all by itself after all these years (I'm 62 now). Sometimes I'm aware of the bio-feedback kicking in. If I consciously look for the migraine I can find it and sort of feel it, but no horrid pain. I have a bad headache about once or twice a year, but they don't act like the migraines I used to have. I guess they are just plain old headaches. I never thought of having an EEG. It would be interesting to see what it shows. Anne...See Moreunder eye circles
Comments (17)Hi goldgirl, I think I remember that thread sometime ago, and made my complaint known then also. Like Ms. Pucci, the cost at this point, isn't an issue~I'm 71, and almost anything goes. lol When I was getting the Botox 2 years ago, I asked about the dark circles, and the dr. told me there was a new treatment, but he wasn't that familiar with it, so wasn't doing it yet. I'm sure by now he's an expert on the technique! I believe it was either the Restylane or Juv'ederm, since those were the only 2 fillers he used. I had a bit of (Restylane)injected for some deeper lines, so I would have to believe there isn't an issue with having an allergic reaction. Since I'm now in Austin, I'm researching for a new dr., and will definitely be getting the procedure. Ain't no time like the present! ;)...See MoreSomewhat Finished, Somewhat Budget... Comments (53)buffalotina, The laminate is holding up well... so far no scratches or any other complaints. LOVE the Aura paint! We used it to paint the entire house. The cabinets are painted with Aura Satin and the walls in Matte. I'm very pleased with the Aura paint so far... It's holding up well and any spills wipe up nicely. We primed with the Benjamin Moore Fresh Start, Stain Block primer (waterbased). Their primer was more expensive but went on smoothly and coated much more like a oil based primer, so we felt it was worth the $$$. I have to say that painting the cabinets was a LOT of work! Honestly, more work then I expected. I was also pretty burnt out on painting at that point, as we had just painted every wall, ceiling and trim piece in the house. We sanded before the each coat... and it probably took between 2 and 3 coats to get them perfectly smooth with good thick coverage. I was lucky to have my mom helping, she has painted many cabinets and is quite an experienced painter. It was worth the work in our case, because I didn't want to pay $$$ to have them sprayed... One other thing I noticed about the Aura paint... it stays a little sticky for about a month (only notiecable on the shelves). We painted fire place mantle and built-ins with it too. I asked at the store and they said the Aura takes 30 days to fully cure. So just an FYI if you're painting any shelves....See MoreI've come full circle for paint - should have trusted my gut!
Comments (11)Mairin: Your kitchen is amazing! Have you posted any photos of your completed backsplash yet? Thank you so much for posting such good expansive shots of your RP walls. It looks a lot more tan on my screen, but I can tell that it is going to work great for me as my cabinets are almost as dark as yours and my granite is light (Blanco Romano). Based on the 14 x 8 panel I painted I tend to wonder if need to go a bit deeper in tone. I understand that most paint can be lightened as I've seen reference to 50% strength, but can the same thing be done to darken the paint? I was thinking perhaps just a 10% or 20% deepening. On the other hand once I get the full walls painted it may be just fine. I'll check out the decorator's white. Cloud White was also mentioned earlier but tends to be too yellow next to my horrible white/gray window frames that can't be changed out at this time, but BM lacey pearl might work well. raehelen: Cabot Trail reminds me of melted milk chocolate. The Edgecomb Gray which is next to the Revere Pewter on the swatch card has a bit more tan to it, but is still quite gray. It is lovely too, but I needed the cooler tone of the RP. In my spavce both tend to have a green cast in certain lights....See Moreamykath
