Need help with BM Classic Gray color scheme...
Comments (3)That is a good point. I didn't mention décor details, because the house will be sold this year, and I am trying to go for a neutral look that would appeal to many buyers. Of course I want to like it too, while still living here. I love gray, which happens to be a popular choice, so I am happy playing with shades of gray. But I would welcome any suggestions for other colors that harmonize with gray on adjacent walls. Here are some pieces of furniture that I have: Dining room table - Flatiron from RH (still looking for chairs, I want mismatched chairs to go with it, some weathered wood, some painted): Breakfast nook: white pedestal tableChairs are like these, but bluish/green - no longer sold at PB, so can't find photo: Red cabinet in living room: Family room: Finish on the console is espresso elm: RH English roll arm sofa, color is charcoal: Sold the old coffee table, haven't chosen a new one yet. There is also white built-in shelving in the family room, and a red-white-gray brick fireplace, similar this one: The floors are your standard 90s yellow finish oak, I plan to refinish them to weathered oak or a driftwood-like finish (so that all orange/yellow is gone). Carpet is this (color is "Platinum Mist" - gray): I hope this helps. Thank you again for your time and advice....See MoreBM Darken Classic Gray paint
Comments (32)I have a post and beam renovation getting ready for paint... in my open concept kitchen/dining/living I have Chantilly Lace on the ceiling, walls and trim in different finishes. I am using Classic Gray down the hall and in the bedrooms. The ceiling throughout is tongue and groove with support beams running through. I need a slightly darker version of Classic Gray that can be used consistently on the ceiling beams, to provide contrast. It needs to be dark enough to contrast from the Classic Gray on the bedroom walls, but not so dark that it overwhelms the open concept area. The color tone of Classic Grey is perfect, but I think I need more depth. Advice?...See MoreInterior Paint-The gray color i chose looks like it's blue, advice pls
Comments (9)but i did google it and read that dolphin fin has a blue undertone. but i also read that dolphin fin is a a warm gray, and i also read it gives a true gray color. Since Diana invited me. :) That one is easy to explain. Won't help where you are but at least you'll understand what you found when you Googled Dolphin Fin. It doesn't have a blue undertone. It's not about undertones. Instead, every color belongs to a hue family. Dolphin Fin belongs to the Yellow hue family - the very end of the Yellow hue family right where the Green-Yellow hue family starts. Can see what I mean on this color wheel. Hue family is determined using a balanced quality of light. What a balanced quality of light means is a quality of light with a nice, balanced mix of all the wavelengths in the spectrum. So when you have that kind of mixed-bag, balanced quality of light in your space, Dolphin Fin will look "just gray". Some may call it "true", others "warm". but overall "just gray". When the light doesn't have a mix of wavelengths, when it has more blue to green wavelengths, then Dolphin Fin will shift and appear as tho it is blue. Nothing is hidden or under anything. It's just the way the light is and it's just the way Dolphin Fin looks under that *color* of lighting. Changing light bulbs will change how it looks. Because if you change the light you change how a color looks. That's just the way color works. But if it's looking blue when the lights aren't on, then that's an inherent light issue. Can't move your windows and doors....See MorePaint help! Benjamin Moore Calm, Seapearl, or Classic Gray
Comments (7)Here are some slivers of Classic Grey in my nearly finished kitchen. I painted my whole house with it as my “back-up color”because all of the other gray paints I tried came out different than expected. I’m so glad I did because I really love it. It’s contemporary but not too cold, light but not harsh. You’ll see that near the floor it has more of a beige cast because it’s picking up the oak tones. So do consider it in the context of your floors and furnishings....See Morethinkdesignlive
