Just to clarify: this company IS local. This is what they say on their website: "Our team of home improvement and remodeling professionals has earned certification and accreditation from a number of home construction associations. Sunshine Contracting is a family owned and operated business since 1993, has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and has been named one of the Top 200 Exterior Remodelers in the Nation by Qualified Remodeler Magazine. We stand behind our lifetime warranties and our factory trained & certified installers. " They have 24 Google reviews, 18 Yelp reviews with 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 ratings respectively. We are NOT in Florida and I think this type of door to door solicitation for roofing work does not happen here in Northern Virginia that often. When I asked for a referral to call they provided a local person with a local phone but I have not had a chance to call him yet. Any negative commentary on Yelp seems to be related to something like taking longer than promised and stuff of that nature NOT about being victim of outright fraud. Their Google reviews seem almost unanimously positive and the negative ones don't go into much detail. Not trying to say they are good since I don't have any personal experience but I doubt if they are a fly by night type of company.

Sophie Wheeler my doors and windows were installed properly not that you would know. During our very wet winter a year ago, my gutters failed allowing a torrent of water to rush down the French door and entering under the threshold thereby ruining my freshly installed floor. If doors and windows were watertight, there would be no need for homes to have overhangs, drip edge or gutters. This is a real world scenario here. Thanks

Thanks everyone. Total paid (pre tax) was $13,210 for a 2,500 sqft roof. Breakdown: They used: Owen's Corning Architectural Shingles They removed 1 layer of existing roofing and inspect roof decking. Installed Polyglass ice and water shield up roof 6 feet as well as around vent pipes, skylights, valleys, chimney. Installed Cover Pro synthetic premium roof underlayment. Installed new aluminum/EPDM plumbing vent flanges and Cougar ridge vent with shingled caps Magnetically swept job site after completion and disposed of roofing debris. They also installed 3 sheets of plywood. They had a huge crew and did it one day. Worked from 7:45 until after 6. Two guys were just cleaning up the entire time. That was all they did, clean. They did a great job, roof looks awesome. Turns out they're very highly recommended in my area.

Architectural shingles blend pretty well, so if you replace the rest of the roof 1-2 years down the road it will be OK, if you do it 10-15 years down the road by that time replace the repaired section if it's not that big of an area. Good luck
