Comments (15)my husband, doug, had breast cancer in 2001. it came as quite a shock to our family. he was having a bloody discharge from his left nipple for 3 months before he approached me with tears in his eyes. upon going to several surgeons for opinions, we were met with much fear based haste to make decisions. one of the options presented to my husband was to remove his testicles. that wasn't an option on our priority list, and in, fact, even a biopsy was refused by my husband as there is a theory that once the cancer clusters are punctured, wayward cancer cells can travel throughout the body. we did a lot of reading and computer research to find answers. my father bought doug several shipments of appropriate supplements and some of the powdered herbs, graviola and cat's claw. we got appointments with a D.O. , a chiropractor, an herbalist, and a counselor. doug started exercizing, eating simply and nutritiously, and meditating. one of the best resource books we read was susun weed's book, BREAST CANCER? BREAST HEALTH. susun's book helped him relax, become introspective, and regain health. she offers an informative description of an anti-cancer lifestyle, what it is to be diagnosed with cancer, explanations of diagnostic procedures, in home treatments as well as treatments offered by the medical establishment. She outlined 6 steps of healing which empowers the person with cancer to take the course of healing into their own hands. here is a link to her site if anyone would like to visit: http://breasthealthcancerprevention.com/ during this time, we visited a surgeon who specialized in women's health in the southern part of our state. she monitored the tumour's size and growth by ultrasound, something that had been discouraged in our own area. doug gave himself one year to treat the small in situ tumour on his own. at the end of the year, the cancer had not grown, but doug chose to have the tumour taken from his breast. he has been cancer free ever since...9 years. alot of his well-being during that time with cancer he attributes to the philosphy shared in susun weed's book, his relaxed positive outlook, and his ability to not buy into the fear factor. ....See MoreBreast Imaging call back
Comments (17)Oh Carolyn! No, I've never heard of it but *I* am fine! I went in, they took some (painful) images. One density spot was near my chest wall, so 'ouch'. Turned out to be swollen lymph glands that pressed out. Cooperbailey, you win the cake this time. My internet has been down all day or I would have checked in much sooner. Carolyn, an old girlfriend was in the breast imaging center and she was having cysts removed. I swear, being a female is complicated. Thanks for the prayers and positive thoughts. I must have really felt them. I was amazed at how calm I was. I didn't freak out at all. I just kept thinking, if it is something, better deal with it today than in 6 months. Still have to get a colonoscopy and my blood work. I'm turning 55 in November so I'm getting my 55,000 service. LOL! I'm going to be thinking of you Carolyn. Comments (10)Something sure sounds back-ass-wards! Here is what transpired with me. I went for my yearly woman check-up with my gynocologist and she wrote the order for me to have a mammo. Her office got the results, (suspicious) and they called me and they told me they had made me an appointment with a surgeon....like within the next few days! The surgeon then attempted to do a breast ultrasound in his office, but was unsuccessful, or maybe it was inconclusive...not sure...I was about crazy over it. He then scheduled again, in just a matter of a couple of days, for me to have a needle biopsy. That, I think, (I've blocked a lot out I think) was done in the hospital. I do remember I blacked out from stress/fear. The biopsy was positive, and my lumpectomy was scheduled again in just a matter of days. Due to the size of the 'lump' I was then scheduled to see the oncologist for chemo...thus my name as my new hair after chemo was nice and curly! Please see the link below. It explains a lot. Because I have been referred to the oncologist. family practice won't do any more. I would call them and ask/suggest that they refer you to a surgeon. Do you have a separate gynecologist? If so, I would suggest calling their office, and explain things, along with your concern, and ask if maybe your next step should be a breast ultrasound with a surgeon. Ask if they could schedule you with a doctor (probably a surgeon) who could do that ASAP! I have density on both sides- very dense. snip I saw the flat plate- it had a large area of dense white The white only showed on one side though...right? It sounds like you might be dealing with some very incompetent folks. You might have to take the initiative to see that you get the care you need now! I wish you well. Please do keep us posted or feel free to email me. Take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers diring this stressful time. Comments (1)The Garland quotes make me want to sit next to him and watch. Nice quotes to visit again. Syndey Harris quotes should be on a must read list, like them. Geraldine Harris I love. Have her books and which of her quote is my favorite? They are all. We both are cancer survivors, so there is a connection with similar experiences. Thanks, Don for all the quotes....See MoreRNmomof2 zone 5
