Kalling the Karbon Krowd; a tale of desperate consumerism
Comments (28)Celtinne, thanks for the good wishes. :) I don't actually set my own to my moods, but when it's being Eeyore, I do sometimes go and change it. Eeyore is cute (and my favorite second to Pooh, really), but his outlook can be a downer. :) Great haiku. :) Efs, I knew about the no going back for the spray when I bought the Karbon, but it was about the only practical choice for my prep sink and how I was going to be using it. It annoyed me for a few weeks, but it's no big deal. Then, like anything else, I got used to it. Not the kind of used to that's a constant annoyance, but the kind of used to where that's the way it is and I don't notice anymore. The annoyance that doesn't go away is that it won't spray (dribble) on a very low amount of water....See MoreOrdering online, a Cautionary Tile Tale
Comments (25)I opened this thread initially because we too are deciding whether to order tile online or buy locally. I had true interest in the subject, and hoped to learn something. Instead, Amela posted several times she was unable to post, but since she was posting how she was unable to post, that doesn't make sense. Amela also posted a new thread about being unable to post, except that in posting the thread, again she clearly is able to post, so it's circular. I too have been on this forum for several years, and have never been told I need to do research on a poster before replying. It is frustrating to people who go on the GW for help, and instead have to ask Amela repeatedly to provide the salient information, and spend time in reading how she is not able to post. Except that evidently she is. Amela was able to type the website easily on another thread (link below) - right in her very first sentence, no problems with spelling it out, no reluctance to name names. I think Amela is being disingenuous here, and it is a disservice to all the wonderful Gardenwebbers who want to help others, or who are looking for advice. Comments (77)JMCK, that is true. I am getting used to being tree-less. Sort of. The other element is that I will have to choose my container wisely since we get freezing temps and it can crack. Lastly, I have to admit that I like trees in containers best when in multiples. True, we are currently thinking we will put the house on the market in ~3yrs. And this is the most time I've spent at this house in summer (my kids are taking courses locally). My poor tree measured out at 32" diameter, and the ivy vines were several inches thick; it wasn't hyperbolic to suggest they held the poor 'ole tree up! When it is ground down, I actually have one or two things I could put there in the interim, an antique metal armillary or a white painted white cedar obelisk. In the meantime, DH switched out the long rectangular table for the round one we had in the craft room and we now have our "summer set up" for the DR. I have really enjoyed my "screened porch" sitting area. Hearing the birds and the fountains and feeling the breezes....See MoreA cautionary tale.
Comments (47)So glad your dog was found and safe. Yes, to seatbelts we have a pug and she rides is a doggie car seat that is belted in like a child car seat it has a three point harness that keeps her in place and allows her to see out. When she was a puppy I put her in the car drove five blocks to pick up daughter from the library in a rain storm another driver ran a stop sign slamming on my brakes she slid off the seat. Thankfully I was going less than 10 miles an hour I bought that car seat the next day; she is so used to it she sits right down....See Morebcafe
