Why does the store play music from my playlist?

I signed up for Apple Music several months ago. Lately when I spend some time at Lowes, I hear the exact songs that are on my playlist.

It seems like more than a coincidence. Do the store systems subscribe to a service that detects my phone in the store and match up the music? (To keep me in the store longer? As if that’s not going to happen anyway.)

Some of the songs are pretty old. Most were hits though. Could be an demographics algorithm.

It doesn’t really bother me. I have not been able to find any info on the web about it. Does anyone here know what could be going on?

I don’t shop enough to know if this happens in other stores.

I think it's quite unlikely to be as you're suggesting. Call it a coincidence.

I personally would not suggest using Itunes unless you are using related products it can cause problems if not. I would do the simple method Copy music files from an audio CD Insert the Audio CD and start Windows Media Player. If WMP is in Skin mode, press CTRL+1 to view WMP in Full mode. Click Copy from CD. Or, on the File menu, you can click Copy, click Copy from Audio CD, and then choose the drive from which you want to copy. Click to select each audio file that you want to copy. By default, all files that you have not already copied are selected. Click Copy Music. This copies the file into the My Documents\My Music folder by default. another very simple method where you do not even have to use windows media player is, you pop in your CD into your computer's CD drive, it should pop-up a window asking what you want to do with it. Open the contents of the CD and you'll see all the songs on the CD. If a window does not pop up and the CD starts playing, stop it and go to> Start -> My Computer -> the CD drive with your music CD to see the contents of the CD (you might have to right click on that drive and select explore to view contents). All you have to do from here is highlight all the songs and drag and drop it into a folder that's on your computer or on your external drive, or even easier once they are highlighted right click on that area and choose copy to and find the folder you want to copy them to, usually the My music folder.

I think it could be tics. He's also been clearing his throat for years. He feels like something's dripping into the back of his throat, but he's talked to two doctors about it. They prescribed medicine that dries your sinuses, but he says it makes it too dry so he won't take it. He'd rather clear several times every minute. I try not to focus on it and sometimes I have to leave the room. He's OCD about certain household things too. Always checking behind me to see if I locked the door for instance. Today when we went out for lunch he didn't sing about Bob but he quietly hummed a few bars of the song he sings to the kitties, drummed, and fidgetted. There must be something about the environment because he's not fidgetty at other times. We (humans) are strange creatures.

Here's a good description of birthmarking that I got from an AVAVS article. (I've included the link to the entire article below it if you want to read more. It's all about variegated foliage.) Birthmarks This isn’t a form of variegation in foliage but simply a birthmark. It’s a genetic condition that can be found on the underside of leaves. An easy example is to notice that the underside of silver under sided leaf exhibits red staining or markings. This is often found in multicolored blooming varieties. By nature it states genetically instability, hybridizers usually set these plants apart for future hybridizations programs. It usually makes the prettiest plant (but may not always bloom or grow to specifications) as more color in the leaves usually means more color in the blooms also. http://www.avavs.com/varifs.pdf I think what we can gather from this is that Laura's Little Kunzite is exhibiting genetic instability. Now, I've not grown this variety and I don't know it this is common in this plant, but AV's do some very wonderful and interesting things when they make these changes (sporting.) Of course, it can also be very annoying if you liked the variety the way it was and wanted it to stay that way, LOL. But I'd keep an eye on this one and see what it decides to become. Why is my stored garlic sprouting?

I store my garlic in the kitchen which though a bit cooler than some other rooms is never less than about 60-65. My hardnecks store quite well into the new year, but then they are never cooled except those that get replanted, and then only after they are in the ground. I get few garlics sprouting in storage, but I do get some dried up cloves, even then not all the cloves in most bulbs dry out either. I was able to find enough good cloves in one hardneck variety to plant a decent bed last June from a preceding late July harvest. Although most of the cloves had dried out (no bulb was 100% good, although most had 1 or 2 good still well plumped cloves), I still got a 100% stand of those that hadn't dried out. I think it is too much cool or cold during storage that triggers premature sprouting. I have the best luck storing my well cured garlic warm (room temperature) rather than cool.

You know, there is some interesting verbiage in the Apple Music terms of use that talks about data sharing.

Last time, I just went into Lowes for a quick return and there was Gaga. That was a bit different than the previous genres, but still on my playlists.

I haven’t noticed the coincidence in other stores yet.

I am in the tech field. We tend to think ahead of our time, and well, this seems like an obvious progression to get people to spend more time in the store. Funny how it doesn’t get more press. Marketing techniques like music in stores used to get more press.

Now that I think about it, I have been told that Lowes has emphasized visual merchandising in their stores to appeal to certain audiences. I haven’t done my own research on it yet, but it would be interesting to know more. This person made it sound like they were doing some new and innovative marketing in this area.

An aside, Apple seems to add tunes and artists to my downloads without my allowing it. I haven’t taken the time to figure that one out either. It could be related to collaborations with other artists that I’ve downloaded, or maybe AI induced. I turned off data access to automatic downloads and I don’t have wifi. Another mystery.

Then to be an effective technique, all of the customers in the store at the same time with custom Apple Music playlists would be "time-shared" by the system? Or would the biggest Lowes spender among those customers get all the playtime?

So, when I asked about it, a Lowes associate said they play the same music all the time. I have trouble believing that.

I also noticed it recently in Home Depot and maybe Walmart. Although now Walmart seems to have it’s own radio station or something with talking (which is really distracting when you are tring to choose a product on the shelf).

It could be that there are not very many Apple Music subscribers in my area. And I tend to go shopping when there are few people in the store.

I’m feeling a little guilty if the Lowes playlist gets stuck on my music preferences though.

I suspect there are companies out there aggregating data and using it to choose music for store play.
