Any one who takes air movement and ramps that up to air barrier is way above me in intellect, knowledge and comprehension. Probably way more handsome too. Go bug someone else, there is a guy who is advocating using uncontrolled air leakage from the main home to heat the garage. Surly he deserves a gracious and kind comment or two. Go for a walk to the mall, tell the others there how great you are and how you took a guy who mixed up the trade name for a drywall with an insulation and destroyed him. If your Metamucil laden body will allow you to venture that far to the OP: slap in "some" insulation and "some" drywall and its done. Or put in components that while they may be a bit of overkill will cause you to smile as you enjoy a quiet home, an odour free home, a safe home. And that are examples of the very same things the experts are asking for, just better. Leave the building paper off, apparently it drives macv nuts. All it is, is one more layer, it helps. costs maybe $20 a roll.

Hopefully this works. This is what we are thinking of doing. 14 x 14 mudroom with raised 6x8 laundry (to take advantage of plumbing on wall) and 28x40 garage. A door between the garage and house or a door between the garage and outdoors ? Security risks are area specific. I comment on house plans here without ever mentioning the security risks. I live in a high crime country so I notice it as a risk. They're unlikely to be such where they're being built. A door between the garage & house is considered a risk here, though not to the point of it never being done. We've got one, with a gate too. It also stays locked generally, we actually enter from the main door. A door between the garage and outdoors isn't much more of a risk. Rather uncommon here though, and I don't find it necessary at all. if it were done here it would probably have a separate gate too. Which is an option for you if you are in a relatively high crime area and you want the door.

celerygirl did a nice mockup. you could also turn it so the doors are at 3 o'clock i'm guessing you'll want a double car? maybe you can get an additional room over the garage too. your house is perfect for the garage add-on that will make it look like it's always been there why don't you have an architect draw up some plans for you? you're going to need them
