My finished 'glamour vintage' bathroom
Comments (84)Thanks so much everyone. Sorry I wasn't able to respond to this sooner - I didn't realize anyone had posted on this recently. Yes, its the same cap molding used to frame out the niche. The pocket door is fine since this is off my bedroom but its a pain to lock. I think thats because I have an extra thick vintage door rather than a standard one. If this were a bathroom that was more "public" like a guest bath or off a hallway, I'd definitely be looking for a better lock than the cheapo one we found at Home Depot. I did use the basketweave in the shower as well. No issues at all with it being too slippery (I was concerned about that but its a non issue) I love the lighting in here. In addition to the side lights, I have overhead recessed lights as well a skylight. Its great for makeup application, eyebrow plucking, etc. My old bathroom had a single overhead light and now Im totally spoiled! Hope that helps. Thanks so much for your kind words!...See Morehelp i hate my bathroom tile
Comments (6)What tile is that? It looks like the Arctic Storm from HD that I just this weekend put on my kitchen backsplash. Had a heck of a time choosing a grout color and probably went too light. Mines only half grouted and the other side looks darker. I hope it's an optical illusion (because the grout lines are lighter than the spaces that aren't grouted on the other wall) and not because hubby probably didn't mix the boxes (why listen to ME?) We are having paint color issue too. The room adjoining is toasted wheat by Behr (hubby likes HD paint), the current paint is a dark-medium blue. We'd like to lean towards green but sort of a greyish brownish green that's not too dark...Cabinets are white. Granite is Sapphire/brown-blue. Floor is slate look porcelain, so gray with some tan and a little bit of rust color. Your pic is sideways which is throwing me off. There is a pink cast on the sink...is that the lighting? Lighting can change the colors as well. I think it looks fine, but if there is grey in the whiter tile then you should change the paint to something in the grey family. Let us know what you choose and post a pic. If your tile is like mine then I'm looking for ideas. Also, did you seal it? I tried to find a color enhancing sealer but had no idea what to use on it, so I just used some plain old sealer. I'd love it if I could still use an enhance on it. It seems to still look darker when wet, so maybe with only one coat on it's not too late. Do you know?...See MoreMy First Home Reno Project - Half Bathroom
Comments (9)Thanks but renovating a tiny 3x6 bathroom feels a lot less daunting than trying to finish a 25x20 unfinished basement. I'm planning to get some quotes over the next week before I decide what I'm going to do....See MoreBathroom reno making me tear my hair out
Comments (6)Timing is shifting and changing, with less than ideal communication about it in normal construction ptojects in a non pandemic year. Covid accelerated that, and then added more huge monkey wrenches with major supply issues. Right now, your experience is normal. Understand that there is nothing that your GC can do that affects the outside forces that are causing this. The electrical delay on Mrs Smiths job means downstream consequences not just for her, but for Mr Jones, Ms Green, Graham, and you. You do not control the forces that create these issues either. No one expected the TX freeze to have major impacts on paint availability this deep into the year. Or to force major compsnies to try to outsource components elsewhere, which ruined hundreds of batches, and made the issue worse, not better. Every part of the build industry is overtaxed and beyond capacity. At a time when demand is 200% higher, ability to fulfill is 30% or less. . Try to be understsnding. It isn’t affecting just your job. Millions are in the same boat....See MoreJen K (7b, 8a)
