Galleyette: It's far from finished, but it is fully operational..running water and the ability to get rid of same. Because of the limited space below the vanity we chose this sink - somewhat of a cross between a vessel-style and a counter level basin. The extra inches above the top made for an easier fit underneath. Here you get a good idea of the unique construction of this dresser that made for an easier installation. Notice the space where the p-trap is located...unused space behind the drawers. You can also see - right under the sink drain - a rail on either side for the smaller upper drawers. This scrollwork sits on a maple veneer 5" spacer between the two drawer fronts. Nice detail on the outside - you can see how convenient this is when you compare to location of drain fittings. Why don't I think I want a full-fledged vacuuming system? Because I HATE vacuuming. Hate it with the red-hot fire of ten thousand suns. I despise it. While a built-in system might alleviate some of my hatred, I don't see it disappearing. I'm planning to have little carpet in our new house -- just an area rug for the living room and MAYBE carpet in the bedrooms. I can't see building in a whole system for that small bit -- not when a Roomba can do it for me. In contrast, I don't mind sweeping; thus, I'm thinking I'd like to have the kick-open dustpan thing . . . but I know I will not vacuum unless forced to do so. What's the phrase? Know thyself. As for toe-spaces under cabinets. No, my Roomba is too tall to fit under my current cabinets. However, I'm not sure I want toe-kicks in my new house at all. I am not quite 5' tall, and I'm investigating the idea of omitting them altogether -- I definitely wouldn't mind my cabinets being a few inches shorter. I've been reading on the internet, and people seem to be very split on the subject of whether these are necessary! I don't expect any electronic gadget to last forever, but it can always be replaced. However, this is a good point: Nothing of this sort should be built for one specific machine; rather, it should be built with the idea that it'll eventually be replaced or upgraded. A toe-kick drawer kind of thing was what I had in mind, but I couldn't find such a thing online -- do you know where you saw the picture? The only things I saw were kind of like curtains (or dust ruffles) that hid the machine. As for pushing her own way out (well, I'm not sure whether mine is male or female -- we're not that well aquainted yet) . . . no. The start button is on top of the machine, so I would need to pull it out and push the button. That is a very good point and one I must puzzle through.

Early adopters are the guinea pigs, fruit flies, lab rats. Plumbers are always willing to look at new things. Plumbers are reluctant to adopt new things, because a lot of study has already gone into the products and rules that we now have. Many new products cause other problems. When a product is marketed to the general public and not to plumbers alone, it is a clue that there may be a reason why plumbers have not accepted this innovation. P traps already have the self-scouring ability described in the video now on permaflow-drain.com page 1. ("creates turbulence"). This is described in plumbing codes also, because there is a size limit to prevent anyone from oversizing the P trap or pipe. (Pipe too large = ensures stuff gets deposited and not carried downstream. (which is the opposite of our intentions).). The paddle in the permaflow might be a great advantage. Or, it might cause other problems which we will know as common knowledge in 20 years from now. The Permaflow being transparent is a nice feature, which other P traps could also have. Maybe there are transparent regular P traps already. I've not gone looking. P traps are already made with holes underneath that you can open to clean them out from. (It's a threaded hole with a bolt to seal it. You leave it closed for years at a time). To see an image of one, search for "P-Trap with Cleanout". It has a huge advantage over the permaflow: you remove gravel sand dust and gunk that might have been dropped down the drain during construction or during the course of normal living. Why do people not install them more often? I don't know. What I do know is that it is far far better to remove things that collect in the P trap than to send them a few feet downstream. The permaflow merely gives you a paddle that sends blockages downstream a few feet. It does not guarantee that objects will be carried out of your house's DWV drain line and into the public sewer or into your septic tank. Another concern I see right now is that the paddle has a handle outside the drain, on an axis which pierces the drain --- so this is where a drip can occur. My initial conclusion is that I would like to have a clear plastic P trap. If it had a cleanout that I open up entirely, I would have the option to remove stuff too. On the other hand, maybe clear plastic is not yet good enough to be truly useful as P trap material: maybe it cracks or cannot be glued well to the other materials, or... well, I'll find out within the next 20 years. Ok this is supposed to be capped? With no cold air blowing into attic correct? What is the purpose or use for this to be there ? Does this show lack of knowledge of the installer ??? 0n my other system I see the same PVC vent pipe but it is installed after the ptrap with no air coming from it... So is suppose to be before or after the ptrap drop piece... Found the direction said it should be a 3inch dip...sorry if not understanding I am only a paying customer to this installer....ps haven't paid yet. Lots of issue with this crew..read my other (rant) about their lack of basic knowledge for the copper tubing-under my totsie name...so I want to address all possible issues before settling my account ...so please point out any helpful tips I may want to look at-as stated earlier post my Infinity thermostat Not programmed correctly and that was installed by their most qualified tech (set up as one stage ac-my is suppose to be2 stage)...heater not operational because needs new flue pipe they will be back this week but Really worried about quality of their work..thanks for helping !!!
