I cooked them in the oven yesterday. No odor at all. I followed the directions to put them on the rack while the oven was cool then turned it on. And after I shut the oven off I cracked open the door and let them cool slowly. They look exactly like they did before. I read that the ivory goes on white then changes to ivory when it is cooked and that is a way to tell the plate is done. These colors seem the same. Even the glass half marble was fine. And it is much more interesting looking with little gold dimensional dots all over it. Now to see how they fare outside for the winter! Kathy

Thanks BMU, I will take your advice on much of this. Yep, I am going to back up and stain the legs with some sort of Espresso like the chairs. I am a bit disheartened right now trying desperately to get the old finish(s) off of the legs that are turned. I now realize that this table was touched up after the original and not a very good job at that. Some places are hugely built up gook and the underside is raw in the table top center but the drop leaves are literally full of drips and runny old dried stain. I am stripping the bottom of the leaves and will do them better than the runny mess they are. I will use the center of the table for trial stain Although the underside center of the table is nearly 'white' whereas what I am stripping clean has a reddish tint to the wood. I am not sure if sanding will remove the redish hue or not. I am going to go and get a brush and see if it works better for the turned legs ??? I am also using two coats of stripper. The first one just takes globs of sludge and dries very fast. I am using an MC stripper. The table top is actually two pieces of wood that were apparently glued in the dead center at one time and I see that on one end the glue was gone and the boards do not sit flush. I have no clue how to try to stick them back together but I have my thinking cap on. I am afraid to try to stick glue in there for fear of getting it on the table top and it would stain differently ?? What do you think of a small piece of wood on the underside glued board to board and clamped while drying? I have used Poly wipe on my tables and will take that advice at the end. It is a pretty table and I'm sure at one time it was a treasure but it certainly has seen its years of service and there are dents and there is three very bad liquid marks that I doubt if I can get to stain evenly. I sure appreciate your time. I want this to look pretty for her. It is an elderly couple and they have a tiny kitchen and this table is perfect for the space. I am thinking that I have to stop trying to make it look as smooth as the chair which is brand new. Donna

Can anybody who has had cabinets painted + new doors and drawer faces tell me the price + approx square footage of kitchen? I had this done in 2012. I live in the SF Bay Area, so my costs are right up there. My kitchen is 10x10 and I didn't change the footprint at all. I got 25 new doors (including end panels), some large, some smaller, 7 drawer fronts, all paint grade maple. Decora shaker doors/end panels and slab drawer fronts. The cost, through my KD was just over $1K. I had everything painted professionally and that was a lot more, $4.3K. All the doors/drawer fronts were done in the painter's shop and the cabinet frames were done in place. The creamy white paint is the catalyzed stuff and has worn like iron. I had a general contractor do the door and hinge installation and other work in the kitchen, so I can't say how much of his fee was just cabinet-related. Initially I thought I'd have everything refaced. My cabs were golden oak. Home Depot sent out a guy to my house and he insisted I listen to a canned sales pitch. I wasn't born yesterday and didn't like his manner or approach. I asked, bottom line, how much. He threw out $10K, clearly uninterested in doing the work. I ended up paying $20K for my entire kitchen, including new quartz counter, backsplash, lighting, etc. Everything but the wood floor, including labor. If I were doing this sort of facelift again, I would do it the same way.

My house threw up orange oak and brass so I made the decision to paint mine. I didn't want super dark cabinets so that wasn't an option for me. I also didn't want white cabinets so I picked a soft gray (BM cumulus cloud) and then found a beautiful granite that had all the colors that matched in it. The process took me 4 months. I removed all the doors, wiped them clean, sanded them, wiped them again and again, two coats of primer and two coats of paint. I enjoyed the process though. I used Cabinet coat for primer and BM Advanced paint. Both are none oil based so easy clean up and no harsh smells. I wouldn't change a thing. They have held up fine. I'll post pics.
