Comments (4)It's unusable. You couldn't bend over in that space to load the machine without your butt being against a wall. And all the doorways - yikes. My suggestion is forget the stock houseplan and hire a professional building designer or an architect who understands universal design. Plans from stock planbook publishers often suffer from cut-up-itis since they're trying to sell plans - not deal with finished houses. The same issues with the laundry/mud plague several other areas in the plan - and all those tiny cut-up spaces add to construction costs and make the house harder to furnish and live in. Finally are the issues of aging in place. Narrow crowded spaces are very difficult for folks needing a walker, a grab bar, a wheelchair, etc. Google "universal design" - the idea is to build a home that people of any age or physical ability can live in comfortably....See MoreHelp with Design Renovating Laundry and Mud Room Closet
Comments (25)A few updates and I will get some better pictures once i get everything moved out but i have the door into the bathroom cut in. I have been having trouble with Pella who we bought the door from which has put this on a 3 week hold so far as the issue still is not resolved. We are considering stacking the washer dryer. The location we were considering would be where the closest machine to the wall is. The plumbing in the wall was moved over to allow for the new door to the bath and I have some electrical lines that need installing for the new panel in the garage. Doing this while we have the walls open and since the electrical panels are below this. We have a few tiles we bought to see if we liked them but I am not sure i like any of them. I think if i were to pick it would be the darker 12x24. Any thoughts or opinions on tile, stacking of the machine or anything else here?...See MorePlease help with laundry room design dilemma...
Comments (6)That was the idea to stand and fold there. Tired of using my kitchen table for folding LOL. But your right the height may not be ideal. And we had talked about that too. I think hinge idea is what we are going to go with. We thought about a table rise kinda like you see with some coffee tables at furniture stores but the hardware is difficult to find exactly what we would need and may be very costly. Thanks for your input and time....See MoreJennifer
