Are all of those photos of the tub? Wow. That's pretty bad. I know fiberglass can be repaired - I had a crack repaired under warranty. But just the pure carelessness is appalling.

I would let them try a repair first though, if a hole can be repaired. Just imagine the damage they can cause pulling the tub and installing a new one....

@User yes, all the pictures are of bath tub. There are more scratches. Its Sitka 60x30 acrylic tub. We have paid for the whole tub ( did not go with what came with the build). What I am concerned about repairing is that the tub is on second floor on 2x4 and plywood. I am not confident that the repair guy will do a good job ( based on all the experience building this home) and the damage it can cause over the years.

I was ticked that my tract build had a few chips in the master tub, but mine was *nothing* like yours!!! :-O

The builder epoxied the chips in my master tub. I would not choose that solution again, because the repair is obvious and drives me batty. The guy who did it seemed to take great care in fixing it, it's just that I strongly dislike the nature of the fix. :-(

I'm gonna ask for a new tub if it ever happens again. So I'd definitely ask for a new tub in your case! :-O

New tub and new sink. Absolutely.

Absolutely a brand new tub and a brand new sink. That is unacceptable. Make sure money is held back until its all finished. Yes, it will most likely involve in other damage in the bathroom, that will need to be redone, but, you are buying a brand new home, and thats exactly what you should get.

I would be tempted to not say anything and see if the builder replaces the tub and sink on their own volition.

That's the same tub that we have installed in on e of our upstairs bathrooms. I am going to inspect. It has been covered by the tile guy, but who knows what could be under that cardboard.

In a previous home, we had a crack in the tub. The tub was repaired, and done nicely (although a big mess during the repair.) However, the safety texture on the bottom of the tub cannot be replicated, so with a fix, you will get a smooth surface that will require using a rubber mat or risk slipping.

Quite simply, you did not pay a repaired tub or sink. They owe you what you are paying for, new product.

I'm convinced there are forces in the universe which have not yet been identified. For whatever reason, tubs seem to attract damage even when a builder goes to great lengths to prevent it. They get mysteriously damaged even when no trades are working in the bathroom--or even on the same end of a house. If you're thinking a future Twilight Zone episode....well, maybe.

Minor damage can be repaired. Yours looks like a tub after destructive testing in a quality control lab on a day when the technician was especially ticked off. A replacement tub is certainly in order. Speaking of order--don't wait to ask them to replace it because tubs can be long lead time items.

Congrats on the positive outcome. We have a similar situation with a porcelain enamel tub damaged by builder (two chips, each roughly 2”, shown below).

Can you share how you approached your conversation and what you said to get the replacement rather than repair?

There is no fixing chipped porcelain enamel. It must be replaced. Nothing to converse about.

Get a touch up kit from the manufacturer, chips are pretty easy to fix. It looks like it's on the flange, if so, it's not going to be seen once installed and finished.

Do you have tiled wall? Did the builder remove the tile to replace your bathtub?
