How high should tiles be on all 3 sides for an alcove bath tub?
Hi everyone!
We have a bath tub and shower combo right now. We're building a walk in shower on the other side of our bathroom and will keep the bath tub where it is. We will buy a new alcove bath tub and just use it for baths. Therefore, I don't see any need to tile all the way up to the ceiling.
How high should we tile from the edge of the bath tub and up (on all 3 sides)?
This is similar to what our layout is, except we have a left hand drain and the tub is right beside our toilet.
If anyone can share pictures, that would be awesome!

8 years agoMy tile combo is 21" above my 19" air tub. I need it that high for an
occasional splash from the air jets and it's also in keeping with the
same tiling all around the bathroom perimeter.

Taller (standard) tubs with higher water levels are about 32". I'm comtemplating if I want a tub at all but if I get an air or a jetted tub, if the sides have stone around, how do you reach the motor if you need a repair? Just curious if anyone has dealt with that situation. For my current outdated tub, I can reach the motor through the the cabinet; I have a cut out there. I could do the same thing. 8 years agoThank you and yes, my tub is 19" tall (from the floor). Here is a picture of the tub faucet. Old picture...tv is no longer there, accessories are different. And I don't know why it shows up like this in pictures, but the real tumbled travertine above the porcelain travertine-look tile are spot on in color in real life but in pictures, it looks lighter.

8 years agoI ran my tile up all around the room, So it ended up higher than the examples shown here. I did consider the height with the ceiling height, which in my case is only 7' high. I read somewhere that you don't want to cut the room in half with a wainscoting. I think my height is around 48" above the ground. My tub is at 14".
