Tea and cookies are one of my favorite things that I do daily.

Coconut Chess pie

Last summer we were fortunate to hook up with a local lobsterman who typically sold to restaurants but didn’t have the volume due to Covid. This became a weekly staple in our kitchen.

My new favourite drink: a shrub. Generally speaking, it's a "mocktail" mix of vinegar, sugar, fruit, and soda water. I use flavoured balsamic vinegar with soda (or today, plain water because I'm out of soda). I like the peach flavour quite dilute, but some flavours (like lemon or berry) I like stronger. The vinegar gives it a nice tartness.

A few years back, when one could do such things, a bud went to Cuba on vacation and brought me back this bottle of 7 yr aged Cuban rum. He said it was dirt cheap, and it is delish!! He almost went back again but things got in the way. I told him though, if he is ever able to go back, he must buy me a case! It is absolutely superbly smooth and deep in flavor. Far superior to other dark rums I've had. As for now, I can only savor it on special occasions.

This 11 inches tall snack jar is the busiest food source in the house. I bought it for DH to keep nuts in about 25 years ago. The lid is removed and a handful of nuts consumed many times a day.

A splash (or 3) of this over an ice cube is my guilty pleasure lately. We brought back 4 bottles from our recent haul on the Bourbon Trail

For you tomato lovers: Slice them thickly, place them on a paper towel and salt lightly. After about 10 minutes the salt draws out some liquid leaving the tomatoes less soggy on a sandwich and more intensely flavored. Well, worth doing.
