Plantation shutters vs Cottage shutters
Comments (1)We have plantation shutters on our windows, and I simply love them. I have not heard the term cottage shutters. We have exterior shutters as well, I never thought about them not going together. Most people I know who have plantation shutters also have exterior shutters....See MoreHow to treat this small bathroom window?
Comments (38)After reading all the responses it seems people are split between recommending shutters and roman blinds (cloth coverings in general). I have plantation blinds throughout my home and they give a very clean look that I like. I have not noticed that they block light. I also have not noticed my bathroom blinds collecting more gunk. It also could be that we do clean them regularly. Just a weekly wipe down keeps it all at bay. Having said that, your bathroom looks so serene and lovely. I can only imagine how beautiful the rest of your house is and I am anxious to see more of it as you decorate it (hint, hint)!! Enjoy your decorating!!...See MoreAlternative to plantation shutters?
Comments (12)Window films come in all degrees of privacy from almost clear to completely obscured. Some even look like stained glass. Yet allow the light through. You can look into bottoms-up shades that will obscure the bottom half and leave the upper half clear. I don't think the moisture in a bathroom will be an issue for things like silhouettes. They are pretty well creased. You could also do something like a cafe curtain where the lower half is covered by lace or sheer or another solid fabric while the top is left plain or treated with a matching or coordinating valance. You can do the sheer with the rod at both the top and the bottom for a tighter, more tailored fit. I've always liked the look of this bishop sleeve....See MoreShow me your open plantation shutters
Comments (11)L A - thank you - that's beautiful!! eld6161 - thank you - I hadn't seen them on a slider before, that's great. I think we're going to leave our slider bare, but good to know that's an option! Ocotillo - thank you - do each of those panels open wide left and right respectively, or do they bifold? It looks like you have the wall space for either, just curious. We're meeting with our vendor later this week for prelim measurements so I'm sure I'll get their professional input, I'm just curious what others did and why. We don't have spectacular views and I don't know if we'll want to completely open them occasionally (we don't ever do it now w/ blinds) but if we do, just wanted to consider the different possibilities. Thanks, all -- appreciate the input and pictures!...See Moremorganlp21
