If you can pot them up it will stop them drying out and perhaps becoming unviable. Lilies are 'always' best into the ground as quickly as possible - even if you have to pot them on in spring. Make sure your pots have generous drain holes. If there's only one - it needs to be at least as fat as your thumb - and put the pot on pot-feet. Put them in a cool but non-freeze place. They'll probably survive a solid freeze for a night but I wouldn't count on survival over a sustained freeze. (Hopefully someone who is used to tougher winters than mine will say...) Iris - reticulata? Juno? Plant now - in pots - free-draining mix. Some might rot out but the others should come through. Crocosmia is usually dormant over winter - all tatty brown leaves. Plant up later in winter (mid January?) in a rich and free-draining soil so they can be away in spring. Personally I wouldn't leave them in a pot to come to flowering. Not even a deep one, as they haven't done well for me in pots. Put them out into the garden proper as soon as is wise in spring. However, despite the Do Not Disturb recommendation, you might have to lift them annually to have them survive, unless you have a good micro-climate in your garden, maybe at the foot of a south-facing wall, that also has a well-drained soil. Zone 7 is supposed to be the bottom of the range for them. Alcea? Hollyhock? If your ground is still open and warm, and you've added the compost earlier, you could plant out. Trouble is, there's not much time left for the transplant to establish roots before it has to close down for the winter. Perhaps another one/s for pot/s and a low frost to no-frost place inside until spring comes.

i will make it as simple as i can.. its for you to take the bullet points and go from there ... heres how you do it... use google.. find out how long from planting to bloom ... lets say 90 days ... then work back from there.. you want them in july ... they should be planted 90 days back ... or may ... you want them in august ... plant in .. etc ... [did i count right.. lol ] the problem is.. that every single one will bloom in one week.. which is nice .. but if you want a bigger/longer show... you plant some every week in may ... so you get a month of show ... if you want them in late august.. plant them in june .. got that part?? ... if not i can try again ... let me know ... now... as with ALL SEEDS .. or in this case corms.. soil temps are imperative.. frankly.. you MIGHT be too early ... soil temps might be warm during the day.. but if it is often falling into the 40's at night .. you dont have the constant soil temps to start the growth.. the seeds wont die ... but they arent going to sprout until some magic temp number is hit.. which in my z5.. wont be for 2 or 3 more weeks ... like when it stays in the 60''s all night long ... most likely all chances of FREEZE.. as compared to frost.. are gone.. so we need not worry about freezing the corms ... then in our zones.. you really dont want them getting too big.. until all frost possibilities are gone... and for me that is late may ... you.. maybe a week sooner .. so are you late... ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR YOUR ZONE .. and you may be too early by a long shot ... shall i try again.. i am willing.. ken ps: i have lived 100 miles south of flint my entire life.. no glad is hardy .... UNLESS they are planted along the house.. where there might be a micro climate .. otherwise.. i would like to get some of those corms for my garden .... and maybe get them to market .... pps: you could take an old tray.. put some damp media in it.. and loosely cover the corm .... and start forcing growth .... in the garage .... and when the growth points get an inch or two big.. go plant them out in the soil .... and maybe get them to bloom a few weeks earlier ... try it with 3 or 4 ... experimenting is the BEST way to learn ... just dont forget about them.. and find them in august.. lol ...

Rudy, I am assuming that Houston refers to Houston, TX but that really would not make much difference except you do have a much longer growing season than the rest of us. Definitely plant your cannas now and provide them with plenty of sun and water. In Houston, Texas you will likely see blooms this year providing your great deal cannas are healthy. As for your other bulbs I suspect they will survive better being planted. Kent

I planted some wildflower tulips indoors, the quality of the bulb makes the difference. Apparently mine like low light, after trying to get a good light schedule down, I just left them alone. I found they really gotta be deprived, a little overwatered, dried out well, lots of light to barely any and growth gets pretty encouraging with erratic temp fluctuation. the ones I forced trying to figure out anyway. So I have some more with some daffodils I am keeping colder to get to root well, in another pot, waiting to see the difference. the hormones in the bulbs seems a bit too high, but i don't know. these might die, but, maybe not. my conclusion is, too much light they get leggy, yellowish and life cycle too fast. maybe not enough cold. so as far as too late, i have no idea and assume the cold helps regulate bulb hormones for even growth.
