Wild turkeys ruining garden beds
Comments (4)I am always in "awe" seeing wildlife. Wild turkey sightings are few and far between in my area...but I did get to see them once up close and in person when 7 very large one's investigated my yard...Thankfully they didn't find anything interesting and moved on when the dog started barking...What an amazing sight...although you probably don't feel that way right now..but I'd love to see them....See MoreHelp! Our painter ruined our new kitchen
Comments (11)You might be able to rub some thinner on the stained surfaces to pull out some of the color and then stain with the correct color, but this is a long shot. If there is any finish on the trim, then it needs to be stripped or sanded down to raw wood, and with the labor time involved in something like that, you may want to consider just replacing the trim to see which route would be more cost effective. Also, just because there was no contract doesn't always mean the painter has no obligation to fix something he screwed up. If he's an honorable guy and this is clearly his fault, then he should fix it for free or have his reputation damaged....See MoreAre my cabinets ruined? Absolutely sick to my stomach!
Comments (15)It's not that the contractor didn't notice, it is that he isn't going to bring it up if you don't. You have to be responsible for holding them to the exact plan. It's crazy but that's the way it is. There were several things that I let slide that I should have insisted be redone. The painters were supposed to match a wood stain on a small portion of front exterior of the house. We gave them the exact can, but they instead used paint. It ended up being about 1/3 of the front of the house was painted and 2/3 of the front stained. It didn't match at all. They never brought it up - no mention that they were using a completely different product. The lead contractor was on site at all times but didn't say "boo". When I saw the finish and asked about it, they said it would take a while to "oxidize", literally this is what they said. It never would have matched - I could have waited til the end of time. I had to push on them to get them to admit that they used the wrong product. They agreed to "paint " the remainder of the house to get it to match, but I should have insisted, or sued, to get them to remove the siding and replace it so it could be stained. Everytime I think about it I get angry. The point of the story, is to make sure you get a resolution that is satisfactory to YOU. Don't compromise - they are the ones in error....See MorePainter's tape ruined my bath vanity cabinet. How can I fix this?
Comments (1)First of all...don’t panic! Get some dark brown paint, closely matching the color of your vanity. What material is your cabinet made from? You might be able to get away with using paint from a hobby store. Get a slightly darker color, too. Then paint the part that is exposed with the paint that most closely matches your vanity. It will still be visible. The trick will be to lightly feather in a darker color so that it appears to mimic the “wood” finish that was on your vanity. You could also try Minwax stain pens, sold at hardware stores. I have had a lot of luck with those on scratched furniture and floors. Where is this located in your bathroom? It might be something that only you will see. Good luck!...See Moreshacute
