Always fun to spot a bird unexpectantly on my walk through my local park.

This Red Breasted Nuthatch showed up here at our PA feeder in mid February 2021. First and only time seen here. This perky little bird was a regular at our feeders in Michigan.

I would not want to live in a world without birds.

3 sleeping cowbirds. The mama Junco kicked her 2 unhatched eggs out of the nest and kept the cowbirds. ♥

My brother’s cockatoo had his 13th birthday. He got a cinnabon with a candle. i think he was surprised!

This photo is from 2004. I found this young pigeon on a very hot day, on a sidewalk, up against a building in Houston. She was almost dead. I brought her home and named her Hue. She followed me everywhere. This pic was made one day when I was walking in the woods. I wrote about her in Bayou Tails....chapter called Devoted Friends.

A black billed magpie that I saw on a trip to Ireland.

Jrb, unfortunately not very long. She laid eggs and they weren't fertile. ( She laid one while sitting on my shoulder, and it broke when it hit the floor). Not long after that, I found a pigeon under an underpass that had been hit by a car. He was injured, but recovered, and could fly but ended up blind in one eye. (I think I named him Junior). Anyway, they mated and had 2 babies. Hue was outside and a hawk got her. Junior continued raising the babies. I put them outside in a large cage and began feeding a flock of wild pigeons. When the wild ones were used to coming for food, I released Junior and the babies, and they joined the flock. I've raised several pigeons, including one named Checkers that I found in a trash can at Lowe's, completely covered in tar.

This is more of what I was thinking of. This is a Merriam's Teratorn, but I do not think that it is bigger than modern condors.

The pileated woodpecker that hangs out around our property. I’ve posted this before. He’s still around, but haven’t caught him this close or posed again.

He rules the roost here.

Murraysmom, that'll be our regular plain old Magpie, Pica pica. Blackbilled magpie, Pica hudsonia, is an American species which doesn't occur in these islands. Pica pica is ubiquitous here.
