Is the kitchen open to other parts of your home so you would notice if the trim in the kitchen was not the same color as the rest of the house?

I am so happy to see someone else ask this question! I have the same dilemma. It never occured to me when I chose my kitchen cabinets to give any thought to the trim. I just knew I was afraid of sterile white cabinets at the time re remodeled in 2012. My kitchen is cream but all the trim in the entire home is white. All the mouldings & trim in the kitchen match the cabinets. The door between the cabinets which goes into the laundry room was white with white trim as shown in the photo. I ended up painting that a cream color to match the cabinets because it was so noticeable. I don't have a new picture to include showing it painted but it really made a difference. The backsplash has also been changed to a cream glass subway that matches the cabinets and the paint is blue like in the other pictures of adjoining rooms. However, the adjoining rooms (sunroom & family room) still have white trim. It would be a monumental and expensive job repainting all the trim that is visible from the kitchen, as it is an open floor plan with catwalk etc. so I am learning to live with it. Not sure if it is a mistake but I pretend it isn't. Haha!!

* Also when looking at the hallway ^... that photo of the "door" to the right is actually an elevator door...(Its faux painted...done before we moved here.) That is also the dilemma... if husband paints trim white... there is that door and I do NOT want to paint it white. so can the trim around the door be painted?

I appreciate the advice, but I feel like I'm getting more and more confused (and panicked, as I have to make a decision by the end of the day). In putting the samples on the walls, BM Revere Pewter looks the best. It is darker than I had planned to go, but really looks best with the trim. I'm leaning towards going with that, but when I compare the chroma of Revere Pewter to the SW Creamy, it is actually pretty close (.98 to .91). So, is it not ok to use those colors together? Also, since the master bedroom has a door on it, I can go with a different color in there. Would it be ok to paint the walls the same color as the trim (SW Creamy)? I think it would brighten up the room, and look good with our rug and bedding.
