Mixing metals in kitchen

Hello, I need some advice on hardware and lighting colors. Our kitchen we're doing will have white shaker cabinets on the perimeter with a soft black island. All countertops are a gray and white Carrera quartz. My appliances and faucet are stainless steel except for the cooktop is black. I was thinking about doing black handles for the cabinets and gold lights over the island. Am I mixing too many metals??? My hubbie thinks it will look fine but I'm not so sure. Help!

I think the black handles would be too stark against the white cabinets. I’d go with stainless to match your faucet.

For cabinet hardware you can go brushed nickel (I think that's the one that matches stainless appliances), or a champagne gold to match your lighting fixtures. Make them champagne gold...not gold.

I am getting champagne gold faucets and cabinet hardware. I will have linen/ORB colored lighting fixtures and stainless steel appliances. We will also have white cabinets.

I like it mixed up. I have oil-rubbed bronze ceiling lights and cabinet hardware, copper pendants and sconces, stainless appliances, chrome faucet, and brass door/window hardware. On this topic--I'm not sure I've ever seen a mixed metal fail. I feel like people post about different metals, but I can't think of any kitchen where I thought the metals were too mismatched. Maybe if you picked a metal that stood out, like brass or copper, and didn't repeat it? Curious what others think, since my taste leans eclectic anyway.

We have a room where finishes are mixed between gold and bronze, but adding the silver to the mix seems distracting in our case, and we're planning to change out some silver hardware for gold to match the faucets. Since you have the stainless steel sink, though, it might work to introduce a variety of metals, though obviously it's not ideal. Can you print out a color picture of the faucet you're considering and just place it in the area and see how you like it?

Hubby is wrong. I will assume your appliances are stainless? That's a finish. The warmth of brass is lovely with stainless. A stainless faucet, Brass lighting and either satin nickel for cabinet hardware, or more warm brass. Or matte black for cabinet hardware...... Avoid polished nickel : ) It's best alone - isn't a great mixer.

Absolutely not a decorator or pro here, but in my humble opinion, I don't think you are mixing too many finishes and I think yours will work nicely.
