toilet paper holder placement too far?

my contractor measured 11 inches from tip of toilet to edge of the toilet paper holder instead of the center of the roll. Now there's holes in the wainscoting.

Thoughts? Move it so it's not awkward? It's okay for adults but maybe looks awkwardly far AND would be difficult for kids to reach .

Also, thoughts on this very large toilet paper holder ? Didnt realize it was so big.

I also have this washet remote I have to install

Given the molding, he had to centre and if it had been placed in first section it would have been in the way. It is also huge lol. I’d remove, add wood filler and touch up. Then look for a free standing style if room on other side.

The problem of the toilet paper holders was corrected. The problem was as everyone thought, they didn't want to put them on the vanity because they wouldn't hold properly because of the panels. They were swapped out with the kind where the toilet paper slips on and off a hook and they could be installed on the vanity. When I get time, I'll take photos and post them. Even though the problem of the toilet paper holder placement has been corrected, I have yet for the contractor to come back and take care of the wall where they were taken off. He filled in the holes but painted with the wrong paint. He is aware of this but hasn't come back to correct it. We just moved into our home and I've been too busy unpacking and working to call him and remind him about all the little things that need to be taken care of.

Well don't make the mistake I did: After careful calculations based on my knee height while seated on the old toilet, I bought a toilet 2" taller and picked a tp holder (Kohler Bancroft) that drops down 3" from the mounting holes. So instead of the roll being about 6" above my knee, the knee rests against it. If I raise the holder up, I'll miss the flat 2 x 4 block I put in the wall to secure it to. So I turned the Bancroft up - it looks a little weird, but only to me, so far. Gary

Most of these comments do not clearly describe which way the open end faces. A contractor installed a single post toilet paper holder in my bathroom last year, I think in the less-convenient (“wrong”) orientation. That is, in tearing off a length of t.p., I tend to tear back to front, requiring either 2 hands or a flying roll. I want to reverse it so that when one tears toward the front, the roll can’t come off, and it shouldn’t required two hands.

The only advice I recall seeing is that you just need to "feel" it out--you and whomever else shares the bathroom just need to take a seat on the toilet and figure out what is a comfortable reach without bumping anything. (Also, if you have a holder that's L-shaped--that is, the TP roll slides onto an 'arm' and it's not one of the holders where the TP roll snaps into place between two arms, you'll want to consider how the TP rolls out. My experience with the former showed that if you don't place the opening in the right direction, one good pull of the TP will whip that roll right off the holder.)

Anyone notice that TP rolls have gotten shorter since covid? (side to side, not length of roll, although they have been cutting back on that as well over the years). The toilet looks really close to the wall, but that could be the angle of the photo?

The roll lengths here have gotten massively long, not shorter. Haven't noticed any reduction in width.

Yes - Charmin has mega length rolls but they are more narrow than the old rolls.

Is this a powder room? Or off a bedroom? Since it's done, I'd wait and use it awhile to see if it seems functional. You can always move it later and patch if necessary, but that's not ideal.
