I think your first task is to find a rug to set the tone for the room. You could have carpet bound in the size you need if you want to stay mono-chromatic. A tone on tone rug in cream, tan and chocolate might add a neutral but interesting touch. It only needs to be a couple of feet wider than the sofa unless you add new end tables that you want to sit on it too. I would keep it 12" away from the hearth though. Once the rug is found, if it has a variety of tones in it, use the darkest shade for your chairs. Be sure and take your tape measure with you so you can determine the right height on them. I don't think they should be taller than the sofa. I don't think the two chairs have to match, and it would be nice if one of them had a pattern to the fabric. Here is a mono-chromatic room, but with a touch of pattern and texture.

Ah thanks JustLaugh. I am most likely getting the Glenwood and I already have a sort of very pale oatmeal/creme chair that I need it to go with. I don’t want it to look like I tried to match that and failed. Your room is going to be really pretty because it looks like you can go so many directions. The H&M website drives me nuts because the pictures on there don’t look like the leather samples when you get them.

Since none of your perimeter countertops looks usable, you do need light over the island, since that looks to be the main work zone. Can't really see where the sink might be located. You should upgrade the cans with 4000K LEDs for natural daylight feeling even at night. If you plan to dine in the chandy area, change that to match the lighting you install over the island. Living area needs better lamps and more of them. Unless the fan is a necessity in your climate, use a semi-flush fixture there that matches the dining light and island pendants. Some lighting mfgs. make entire suites of matching lighting which will help it feel better coordinated to you.
