Chimney is better than under cabinet for recirculating hood-yes or no?

I know a ducted hood is better, but I can't get one in our windowless kitchen condo in Florida. I figure some sort of real hood is better (for many reasons) than the usual OTR microwave set-up, so I am looking at real hoods that are convertible. We have 8' ceilings and are buying an induction range.

It seems to me that a chimney is a better choice than an under cabinet because that recirculated air will be shooting out somewhere. With an undercabinet hood that air will be shooting into the cabinet where it is located. With a chimney hood I can have the recirculated air shoot out closer to the ceiling rather than into an enclosed cabinet. Or, is my thinking completely off base?

This is a chimney I am thinking about. https://www.faberonline.com/hoods/nova-pro/

And, for comparison, here is an under cabinet I am thinking about. https://www.broan-nutone.com/en-us/product/rangehoods/alt330ss

(And, by the way, my husband thinks that even putting in any hood at all is an exercise in futility because if it can't be vented outside it will be completely worthless.)

Thanks for your thoughts.
