Is there a tv? What will you being using the room for most of the time? It sounds like a lovely space with lots of light. You could go in a number of directions with color. I would probably plan on two chairs rather than just one, but it would help if you could post a picture. We have a space of about that size in which I have four comfy, but not huge chairs around a round coffee table.

The very first thing I would do is choose a paint color. That will set the mood and style for everything else. My preference for small rooms is to use rich colors. Nothing you do or buy is going to make a small narrow room feel or look big so go for richness and comfort. And don't choose small sofa and lamps because it makes the room look like a dollhouse or child's playhouse. Be fearless and think bold, not safe and you'll create a room that everyone will love to be in. Medium to light navy is now THE color and would be beautiful on your living room walls, accented with rich tan slouchy sofa and chair. two floor lamps that provide enough light to read by but not harsh with bronze metal base and burlap or kraft paper shades. A rug is a must and it should be a very casual natural jute or sisal. Very small end table for the sofa and one for the chair in reclaimed teak because teak wood goes with everything and brings the level of the quality way up. Most importantly, make it fun and love everything you buy. You can do it!

We did and that was the original plan. My husband in the end did not like facing away from nature. I could try it again but, he was pretty adamant that he likes looking outward. I'm just playing with furniture to see how big and how all can work - it is perplexing. Thank you for your input - it is very much appreciated.

Thank you. The house sits at an angle. So, we get morning sun from left and afternoon sun on right. No direct sun, so no glare on windows that face the pond. The deck is on the right, with easy access from inside the house. The open patio with fire pit is on the left which only has access to the house through the sunroom. The chairs sounds like a great alternative to the sleeper sofa. I just don’t want to block the view of the garden and pond. Now, as you come in the front door, you can see all the way yo the pond in the back
