Please help me dress these windows!!
Comments (8)Thanks for the advice. I was afraid the answer would be no on the panels. I was thinking that *maybe* I could get away with putting a panels on the outside of each of the corners, but that would mean you'd have to move it out of the way to get in and out of the door. Not very practical. With such high ceilings I was really trying to bring some warmth and coziness to the room. Oh well...I'm sure there are other ways to accomplish this. I'd really like the change the fireplace to a stacked stone, but that's down on the list. Do you think the dark bamboo shade is a good choice or should I do maybe a white or cream roman shade, or even pattern of some sort? Thanks again!...See MoreNaked window seat needs your help!
Comments (5)Thank you for your responses! I'm glad to hear that you don't think the window seat area will look too bare without a valance. That suits my taste well, but as with everything related to this new house, I was second-guessing myself. There are SO many decisions to agonize over! Teacats, what a lovely picture you paint! Green and white, definitely. Orange is a bit too bold for me, but a warm coral or salmon, yes! Ellen, thanks for the link. I'm going to spend some time looking at the photos. I'm not sure what kind of fabric I want to use for the windowseat cushion. Perhaps a stripe, casual botanical, or something solid but with some texture. My choice of living room furniture will impact that decision. Again, thanks for your feedback....See MoreHelp me dress my wood trim windows...
Comments (4)I wish I had some seamstress skills! Yes, the area over the top of the window frame is 25.5" so from halfway in between to the floor I would need about 103". 95" would definitely be too short. 108" would work, but that would be 17" of white space over the frame, though...I would most likely have them open most of the time, so maybe it wouldn't matter. I'd like to get cellular shades in here, the kind that can be opened from the bottom or top. That seems like the best way to get privacy without blocking too much light, so the curtains would be more for dressing than to close for privacy. I suppose I could check into what it would cost to have someone hem them for me too. If I don't pick a heavy drape I might be able to do it with that iron-on tape. I've used that to make light table clothes. I live in a tiny rural town in Indiana so Walmart or online are my shopping choices generally, but I'm going into Indianapolis at the end of the month for an appointment so I might see what I can find then....See MoreHelp me dress awkward windows after merging two rooms
Comments (10)I like the table you have in the graphic- kind of breaks up the space in a nice way. And would also be handy to use from the laundry or the fridge side. Considering the utilitarian nature of the room, you might want to keep it fairly simple with blinds or shades rather than using curtains. Keep the ceiling basic with a white tone. Depending on what kind of crafting you do, you might want that room to be as basic white as possible so you aren't throwing color on your projects. You might want/need to bump up your lighting too....See MoreLizzie Borden
