Best Steel Entry Door Options? (DIY Install)

Scott Trudeau

Given how I've seen people talk about big box store doors being junk, what then is considered a good quality steel door that I could install myself but also be pre-finished and include a 14" sidelite?

Assume that I know what I'm doing or can ask for help from those who do; i.e. family/friends who are carpenters.

I was quoted $5k installed for the Legacy Steel door (20 gauge) & the 14" sidelite. I know it's a quality door and I know those who install them ensure they do it right but I have other projects that need doing and $5k is a hard pill to swallow for a door. I would prefer to stay under $2.5k but I would consider that to be max.

This is the door on the house currently, though it's hidden by the storm door the handle is on the right.
